In all of these, the goal was to give freedmen and African Americans equal rights to those of whites. This was also right after the 13th amendment was passed, requiring all slaves to be freed. With all of this freedom, African Americans still faced hostility from many southerners. Because of this, most blacks still didn’t have fair rights by the end of Reconstruction.
