Drive Backup Package

Introduction
This procedure explains the process of downloading the complete Drive Backup Package.

Basic Tool List
Refer to recommended test equipment list.

Hardware
• Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) protection wrist strap • Personal Computer • Drives Window PCMCIA card with Converter and cable

Software
• Drive Windows Version 2.1x or higher • Windows 2000, or XP

Procedure


CAUTION

Persons wearing wrist straps should never touch live wires or connections. The wrist strap increases the risk of electric shock.


WARNING

Always follow appropriate electrical safety and electrostatic safety precautions to prevent personal injury or component damage.

NOTICE
If this is the first time using Drive Windows on this Laptop PC, proceed with the Drive Windows Preferences Setup in Table 1. If Drive Windows has already been used on this Laptop PC, proceed to the Drive Backup Package procedure in Table 2.

Procedure Step 1: Place an Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) protection wrist strap on your wrist. Step 2: Verify that the AC80 has been turned off. Step 3: Power up the Drives and wait for them to complete their power up sequence. Step 4: Connect the Laptop PC to Channel 3 of the SDCS-AMCDC Board, refer to Figure 7, on the individual drive being backed-up.

NOTICE
Verify that the Drives have completed their power up sequence.
Step 5: Double click the Drive Windows 2.1 icon on the Laptop PC Desktop. Refer top Figure 8.

Step 28: Disconnect the Laptop PC from Channel 3 of the SDCSAMC-DC Board and reconnect the system plug to the drive. Step 29: Repeat Step 4 through Step 28 for the next drive until all drives in the Control Cabinet have been backed up. When completed with all drives, proceed to Step 30. D.1 Flashing the SDCS-CON-2 Converter Type

Attach personal ESD protection equipment (wrist strap) to self and control cabinet or drive. Switch off the power to the auxiliary power supply SDCS-POW-1 Board. Move the S2 jumper on the SDCS-CON -2 Board to position 1-2. Refer to Figure D-1.

Switch on power to the SDCS-CON-2 Board by reapplying power to the Auxiliary Power Supply SDCSPOW-1 Board. Use either the Drives Window program or Common Display Panel, CDP-312, to check the following parameters in Group 42. Refer to Figure D-2. These parameters will be flashed to SDCS-CON-2 Board. If the drive has just had it’s parameters restored, the appropriate values will have already been set and are ready for flashing. Check for confirmation.

Use either the Drives Window program or Common Display Panel, CDP-312, to flash the memory by setting parameter 15.02 to 22. if using the Drives Window program, check the download immediately box to flash to the board. Parameter 15.02 will change back to 0 when flash is completed. Switch off the power to the Auxiliary Power Supply SDCS-POW-1 bOARD. Move the S2 jumper on the SDCS-CON -2 board back to position 3-4. Switch on the power to the Auxiliary Power Supply SDCS-POW-1 Board.
