Red cross knights' final battle is against the dragon. The battle lasted three whole days. The knight of Holiness, took the quest to free Una's parents from the dragon on his own. His adventures represent the Christian's more pricely the Church of England protestant faiths' struggle to preserve holiness while trying to avoid sin of all kind. I believe the battle lasting three days was done to replicate the death and resurction of Jesus Christ, who died and came back to life three days later. On the first, Redcrosse wounds the dragon but is burnt as a result of the dragons flames, injuring him quite severly.Until he falls into the Well of Life. On the second day Redcrosse manages to cut off the dragon’s tail, however, this came at a price as …show more content…
Furthermore, the dragon fights the Redcross knight in Eden, and by the end of Book I the Redcross knight has defeated the dragon and symbollically defeated not only te dragon but the evil and sin he embodied. The battle against the dragon brings the allegory of the first book to it's climax and embodies all the political and religious meaning that Spenser has put into the story. Redcrosse's victory over the dragon, or sin if you will, represents two main things; the victory over the Catholic chruch, Jesus Christ resurction, In Canto xi, the red cross knight's is in many ways very similar to Jesus himself, he loses, however, emerges victorious on the third day.
Redcross knights' battle is one that is done to illustrate a Christian need for the help of God in his or her battle against sin. For example, during his battle he falls into the Well of Life meant to represent Baptism. . The Tree of Life represent the Eucharist, a symbol of Jesus Christs' body and blood. All this is not a coincedence, is one supposed to believe the Knight of Holiness was just lucky enough to find himself in those places? Baptism and Eucharist are gifts given from God to mankind to help us battle sin and evil. Thus, Spencers' real message is that no matter who a person maybe or how well prepared or holy he or she may be without the assistance and guidance of God we will all fall to

...The Origin of the Vampire Vampires, are they a mythical creature that was created by superstition and folklore or did they begin from someone’s fantastic imagination based on a real live person? Or maybe it was created to explain a cluster of misunderstood medical conditions that began before the medical world had advanced science and knowledge on the body and its psyche. It’s a word that inspires awe, fear, and romanticism all at once. Vampires are known in every culture and have been kept alive through stories that have been told throughout the generations. When someone utters the word “vampire” most people’s mind jump to Dracula from the great love story written by Bram Stoker. Dracula was created because Stoker was inspired by a real live man, the infamous, Vlad Tepes from Romania. That story is where love and vampires were intertwined and a kind of admiration was born. Only till recently they have become these seductive beautiful men and women in movies like ‘Twilight’ and ‘The Lost Boys’. So we are going to embark on the journey of where vampires began and explore the different aspects and origins of vampires. How these creatures were created was recorded in European folklore, Greek Mythology, found in medical conditions, and even taken from an excluded book of the bible. What is a vampire? Where did they come from? Well to get some answers we must first start at the beginning. First we must look at the word vampire. It is also spelled “vampir” or “vampyre”...

Dickson, Gordon - Dragon

...Chapter 1 At 10:30 a.m., sharp, James Eckert pulled up in front of Stoddard Hall on the Riveroak College campus, where Grottwold Weinar Hansen had his lab. Angie Farrell was not, however, ready and waiting at the curb. Of course. It was a warm, bright September morning. Jim sat in the car and tried to keep his temper un- der control. It would not be Angie's fault. That idiot of a Grottwold undoubtedly had dreamed up some- thing to keep her working overtime in spite of-or perhaps because of-the fact he knew she and Jim were supposed to go home-hunting this morning. It was hard not to lose his temper with someone like Grottwold, who was not only one of the world's non- prizes but who had been very patently trying to take Angie away from Jim and get her for himself. One of the two big doors on the front of the Stoddard Hall opened and a figure came out. But it was not Angie. It was a stocky young man with bushy reddish hair and mustache, carrying an overstaffed briefcase. Seeing Jim in the car, he came down the steps over to the car and leaned on the edge of the opened win- dow on the curb side of the front seat. "Waiting for Angie?" he asked. "That's right, Danny," said Jim. "She was supposed to be out here to meet me, but evidently Grottwold's still hanging on to her." "That's his style." Danny Cerdak was a teaching assistant in the Physics Department. He was the only other Class AA volleyball player on campus. "You're going out to see Cheryl's trailer?" "If Angie ever...

Daenerys

...DaenerysDAENERYS In this city of splendors, Dany had expected the House of the Undying Ones to be the most splendid of all, but she emerged from her palanquin to behold a grey and ancient ruin. Long and low, without towers or windows, it coiled like a stone serpent through a grove of black-barked trees whose inky blue leaves made the stuff of the sorcerous drink the Qartheen called shade of the evening. No other buildings stood near. Black tiles covered the palace roof, many fallen or broken; the mortar between the stones was dry and crumbling. She understood now why Xaro Xhoan Daxos called it the Palace of Dust. Even Drogon seemed disquieted by the sight of it. The black dragon hissed, smoke seeping out between his sharp teeth. “Blood of my blood,” Jhogo said in Dothraki, “this is an evil place, a haunt of ghosts and maegi. See how it drinks the morning sun? Let us go before it drinks us as well.” Ser Jorah Mormont came up beside them. “What power can they have if they live in that?” “Heed the wisdom of those who love you best,” said Xaro Xhoan Daxos, lounging inside the palanquin. “Warlocks are bitter creatures who eat dust and drink of shadows. They will give you naught. They have naught to give.” Aggo put a hand on his arakh. “Khaleesi, it is said that many go into the Palace of Dust, but few come out.” “It is said,” Jhogo agreed. “We are blood of your blood,” said Aggo, “sworn to live and die as you do. Let us walk with you in this dark place, to...

Overlord

...Chapter 1: The End and Beginning Prologue Facing the young girl and her little sister, the armored knight raised his sword. To have mercy was to take away a life in a single strike. Struck by the sunlight, the sword glistened high up in the air. The girl shut her eyes and bit down on her lower lip. Her expression showed that she never wished for this situation. She was simply accepting it since there was nothing she could do. If the girl had power of some sort, she would have used it on the man before her eyes and ran away. But— the girl had no such power. Thus there existed only one conclusion. The girl would surely perish here. The sword struck down — —Yet she did not feel any pain. The girl opened her tightly shut eyes. The first thing that the girl saw in her world was the sword that had stopped in its path downward. The next thing that entered her sight was its wielder. He had stopped in motion as though he were encased in ice. The knight’s attention was no longer on the girl. The completely defenseless state of the knight clearly revealed the shock that surged inside him. As though led by the knight’s gaze, the girl also turned her face toward the same direction. Then— she saw despair. There was darkness. Pure darkness as thin as paper, yet of an unfathomable depth. It had emerged from the ground in an ovoid shape with its lower section cut. A scene that evoked mystique with indescribable apprehension. A...
