...Shaniqua S. Boyd February 6, 2015 THEO 104 Reflection Paper #1 Prayer Do you love to pray like I love to pray? When I pray I take out the time during many parts of my day to pray to my higher power. Prayer is communication with you and Jesus. In order to develop what prayer really is, you must have a clear definition of god. God is so personal being to us and when we pry we can interact with him. To understand it all I will help you understand what prayer is and what is not prayer. What is Prayer: For me prayer is a most important part of my communication process. When we pray we worship and seeks god attention because we know he is there and he listens to us. It might sound crazy but some people think that you just supposed to pray when you wake up and when you lie down to go to bed. Truth be told, there is no limit on when you can pray to your all mighty savior. I talk to him all the time. When I wake up in the morning I’m praying and thanking the lord that he woke me and my family up to see another day. As I am driving to work and asking him to let me and everybody in the world make it to see another day and to get to their destination safe and sound. When I am working I am praying for my co-workers and patients. I pray all the time because I need my blessings all the time. When you pray it do not always have to be that you are asking god for something. It could be that you want to confess to him of something or just praise him for all that he had done for you. Just...

...My appreciation for our medical system increased greatly after interviewing my Aunt Jilla who told me about her husband’s diagnosis of stomach cancer and their journey of being in and out of the hospital for five years. My aunt emphasized how optimistic her husband was throughout the five years, never giving up hope that sooner or later he would be discharged from the hospital. He was admitted to the hospital multiple different times commonly for Pneumonia infection, which lasted about a week to ten days before he was released. After a while, his wife, son and daughters expected his stay to be no longer than a week until his last admission to Cedar Sinai hospital came around which lasted for one year before he passed. “The whole five years was overwhelming” Jilla stated when talking about the process of dealing with the hospital. She mentioned that sometimes the process was fast and sometimes they were waiting for hours before a room was available for them. Every patient is different based on how serious their medical diagnosis is and how many times they were admitted to the hospital. For the first few times her husband was admitted to the hospital, they would usually go to the emergency room where a full checkup would be done before he was admitted to the ICU where the treatment would be continued. After about a year or so, Jila’s husband had become a regular at Cedar Sinai hospital. He had a whole team of doctors assigned to monitor and watch him closely as he was getting...

...Week 1 Reflection Paper Thou shall not kill! Thou shall not steal! Two of the most universally accepted “laws” which have been handed down over the years. These are called Natural Laws which “refer to a body of principles and rules imposed upon individuals by some power higher than man-made law and therefore considered to be uniquely fitting for and binding on any community of rational beings.” (Inciardi, 2010) Natural Laws are the building blocks of the modern criminal justice system. The Code of Hammurabi is a perfect example of Natural Law effecting the legal system. Most of the current code of laws are based on the Code of Hammurabi since the Code of Hammurabi is the first known legal document. The Code of Hammurabi is most notably remembered for the “eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.” It gives a crime and the punishment for the crime. Many of the 282 crimes are Natural Laws passed on from religious texts. Most industrialized countries have laws that cover the basic Natural Laws in their criminal justice system. The basis of modern society can also be traced back to Natural Laws. If a person commits the offense of rape, murder, or any other of the many violent crimes, then he or she is held accountable and punished accordingly to that crime. It generally does not matter what country you were in if you commit one of these crimes. In the end, it is generally met with a harsh punishment for a heinous crime. In a nut shell, Natural Laws are religious principles...

...Theology 104-D14 Jenna Erickson Reflection Paper 1 04/13/2015 I. Introduction Upon sitting down at my desk to write this Reflection paper, I had to put a lot of time and thought into which topics I wanted to discuss and go further in-depth with. Knowing where I stood throughout much of my life, and then in the beginning of this class I have decided upon the topics of Doubt and Reconciliation. I believe these two topics can go hand-in-hand with each other. Doubt being first, but then overcoming that obstacle and then seeking reconciliation for the previous doubt. I will tackle these topics in the order in which I believe they happen, and then discuss how this relates to myself and how this class has helped me get to this point, having gained a better understanding of the scriptures. II. Part One – Doubt a. Theological Definition People can doubt many things throughout their life; people, claims, objects, time, situations and sometimes even facts. While there are many people who do not stray or question their faith in God or Jesus Christ, there are still also many that do continue to retain doubts. Doubt is not fully a bad thing with faith because it is a person trying to make logical sense of the stories and teachings by weighing evidence, and in turn doing further research to which gives us a deeper understanding of our faith and belief. Doubt helps keep us from making fast judgements or conclusions, poor choices, trusting inconsistent people or sources and much more...

...Ethics Reflection Paper STR 581 Ethics Reflection Paper A company is defined by its mission; the mission in turn is a company’s approach to social responsibility. Serving several groups of stakeholder is never easy, each group has its own set of interests and expectations of a company. Through several steps a company can identify, understand, reconcile and coordinate the demands to define its social responsibility. Ethics and Social Responsibility “Corporate social responsibility is the idea that a business has a duty to serve society in general as well as the financial interests of its stakeholders.”(Pearce, 2013, p. 52) Dividing the stakeholders into two distinct groups, internal and external, despite its numerous situations a company can determine how to meet its social responsibility. There are four types of social commitment that strategic managers must consider: economic, legal, ethical, and discretionary social responsibility (Text) Maximizing profits is at the core of economic considerations while ensuring compliance with laws and regulations are taken into account under legal commitments. “Ethical obligations are the obligations that transcend legal requirements” (Pearce, 2013, p. 54). All other voluntarily assumed duties comprise the discretionary responsibilities of a firm. While the demands of stakeholders may overlap these responsibilities only some are required in the mind of the general public. Not only does social responsibility comes with both costs...

...Reflection Paper Assignments Due Dates: March 20, April 3, May 1 Overview These reflection papers are the chance for you to review your recent journal entries (or the sum total, if that helps) and to synthesize some thread of thinking or learning that you find in there. You might build on a single entry or on something bridging multiple entries, but the point is to capture something that you are learning. We expect the paper to have some over-arching, coherent argument so that it is not simply a string of thoughts. A string of thoughts is fine for your journal entries, but here we do want some synthesis. You should not spend time summarizing your activities, unless that is essential for your argument. Grading Criteria The criteria we will use to evaluate the papers are listed below. Note that you do not have to address all of these criteria in one paper. We want you to address all of them over the course of the semester, but any single paper can focus on only one or two of these. Regardless of what you choose to write your reflection synthesis on, your paper must demonstrate clear, coherent argumentation. 1. Expression of Learning 2. Discussion and/or synthesis of course readings 3. Reflection on assumptions and cultural frames of reference 4. Connection to proposal process Word Count The reflection papers, except for the final one, should be at least 500 words, but not a lot longer than that. The final paper should be around...

...Experiement 9 Melodi Hay Tuesday 2-3:50pm October 27, 2014 Purpose: The purpose of the experiment is to study the laws of reflection, refraction, and total internal reflection; to measure the focal lengths of the mirrors with convex and concave surfaces; and to measure the index of refraction of water. Theory: If a ray of light is incident on a flat surface: the angle of incidence a is the angle that the incident ray makes with respect to the normal, which is a line drawn perpendicular to the surface at the point of incidence. The angle of reflection r is the angle that the reflected ray makes with the normal. The incident ray, the reflected ray, and the normal to the surface all lie in the same plane, called the place of incidence, and the angle of reflection r equals the angle of incidence a – the Law of Reflection describes the behavior of the incident and reflected rays: a = r When light strikes the interface between two transparent materials, such as air and water, the light generally divides into two parts. Part of the light is reflected, with the angle of reflection equaling the angle of incidence. The remainder is transmitted across the interface. If the incident ray does not strike the interface at normal incidence, the transmitted ray has a different direction than the incident ray. The ray that enters the second material is said to be refracted. When light travels from a material with refractive index a into a material with refractive index b,...
