I demonstrate how practice anxiety, as a student nurse, can be dealt with through effective mentoring. I chose the seminal theory of Gibbs reflection on practice, as it illustrates six significant stages; description, feelings, evaluation, analysis of the incident, conclusion and an action plan Ghaye and Lillyman (1997). Gibbs cycle is used throughout the process of reflecting on the incident to help me make sense of my practice and understand what l could do differently to enhance good practice. ...As a member of this group, I think everyone was treated with respect and that was one of the key attributes of that group. This allowed everyone to feel comfortable enough to express their voices and opinions. With the artefact project, we were all able to provide input and all of our individual ideas were taken considerably and never turned away. There have been times where the group would get distracted during workshops however I think it allowed all of the members to become comfortable with one another and we always completed our work in the end. From the formation of this group, we formed strong friendships which allowed us to excel in the group project. Some of the groups most difficult moments would have to have been focusing on the task at hand. When we would meet up to discuss our group artefact project, too many distractions got in the way of actually getting sufficient work done.
