...I believed this was a good quote in writing this paper on my Field Experience Reflection observation #1. Here in order for educators to have an effective plan for his or her lesson, or unit of lessons, we must first determine what we want the students to achieve. For example, in history, we want them to understand situations in the past and achieve the standards that are given to us by the state. However for Math we need to look at how we will be able to determine if the student understood the material and if they are able to synthesize their thoughts into a complete product. Second, in doing this paper I am also showing how the educator was able to decide the various ways he wanted the students in this class to produce, comprehend, and process information that was being taught in the Math material. Finally, in reading my paper I want my reader to know, “we as instructors need to start each planning to meet the objectives in teaching a lesson to our student/students....

...Documentary 1 Reflection “Africans in Africa did not enslave each other they worked as a form of servitude” This quote is a very controversial topic. People say slavery is not bad because Africans did it to each other also. They say that it was Africans who brought the whites to Africa to enslave their own people. That is why this quote is important to me. It portrays a lot because of the way we are told versus what occurred. We worked for people our color but it was not the labor that enslavement the white people would enforce upon us. The Black Experience is about what it means personally to an individual. To me the Black Experience means a various amount of things. It means beauty, peace, love, empowerment, and coming together as one. It...

...* Reflecting on your school experiences (or work experiences), consider an inspirational teacher/mentor/boss. Describe TWO strategies this teacher/mentor/boss has used to motivate their students (or workers) (500 words) School experiences can be very strange as each individual is trying to develop identity, friendships and growing towards maturation. I believe learning requires motivation and as a student or even as a teacher, we all need to develop different strategies to motivate learning. Student learning has a direct effect with the effort that a student puts into learning. Therefore this is a responsibility of a teacher to encourage and promote student efforts. In order to motivate students, teacher can use both intrinsic and extrinsic motivators. Intrinsic motivators are based on engaging in a particular behaviour such as enjoyment rather than the desire to achieve a reward whereas extrinsic motivators rely on performing behaviour for the sake of earning a reward. At school, my goal was to be recognized as one of the top students in my grade, the competition at my selective school was indeed very tough but I cherished this chance to further prove myself. Through many years of study, I simply found myself a very motivated student as I always had the opportunity of having a supportive learning environment, created by my teachers. My favourite subject at school was Physics as it gave me a solid foundation to understand and explore the rapid technological advancements. My...

...The three storyboard sessions have constituted a gradual learning progress for me. Thus, I find it difficult to write three separate logs of 500 words. Rather, I prefer to present my learning experiences in a long essay in which I reflect upon three aspects, namely: teamwork, video-editing tool and delivery format. Teamwork. The first thing I recognized about these storyboard sessions is that they were designed as a sequence of discussion phases which set a strong foundation for efficient teamwork. The structure worked peculiarly well with my first and third team. Both times, we began with each member summarizing the key takeaways from their individual papers. Then, we brainstormed how to connect all categorize and cluster our ideas. Next,...

...A Reflection of My School Experiences Danielle June 19, 2014 EDUC- My immersion into the education field began around 1978. Every Saturday, I would help my mother load up her car with musical instruments of all sorts, and head on over to the Community Center in one of the toughest neighborhoods in Philadelphia. Despite the grime and crime ridden neighborhood that the Center was located, on the inside, one would never know of the issues that existed on the outside. There, I met my first group of children with disabilities, children with Down’s Syndrome. My mom came here every Saturday to teach these students who were from the local orphanage, music. My job was to pass out the instruments and help where needed. The funny thing about my experience when I look back is that I NEVER saw those kids as being “different” I mean I noticed that they had mongoloid features and stubby fingers but they laughed and acted as silly as I did. I didn’t know it then, but that is when I got the “teaching bug.” They say it takes a special person to teach special education, and that is very true. My first classroom experiences may have made the toughest teacher quit. I’ve been spat at, had feces thrown on me, food tossed at me just to mention a few, but none of those incidences broke my spirit because I believed that I could, along with the help of my paraprofessionals, turn these students around. No, it wasn’t easy and I went home many a night crying and calling my mom asking her how she...

...A service learning experience is the application of reflection to consider the change that needs to be made in order to help a community run more efficiently (Homan, 2016). Throughout my service learning experience, I have developed new professional skills and gained a fresh perspective on the experience and my population served. I believe that in any new work environment one can gain these tools from fellow colleagues/coaches, supervisors/advisors and the individuals served. Additionally, working on a group project that spanned the entire semester challenged my teamwork skills and gave me new insight on effective communication and consensus. As a result of my service learning experience, I grew professionally in terms of understanding group dynamics when working towards a common goal. For example, through working with Girls in the Game, I formed a passion for the program and the population we served this semester. In the beginning of the...

...Introduction: Individual Reflection on Team Experience Today in many industries and organizations group/team work is a tool for effective achievement of organizational goals. Understanding the way groups develop and how they impact organizational success is important to the effective use of groups in organizations. One of the most common models to describe how groups develop was described by Tuckman. Tuckman studied group development as it was seen in group therapy. This was then extrapolated to involve the development of all groups and teams that exist in areas such as those seen in organizations. In 1966, Tucker proposed that group development progressed through four identifiable stages which were named forming, storming, norming and performing. The Tuckman model for the stages of group development is one of the most cited models in the business world. Over the years there were other studies that also agreed that groups go through stages and they had identified that there appeared to be an “ending” stage as well. In 1977 Tuckman with Jensen reviewed who the stages of group development had evolved over the years since his first proposal of the stages of group development and in response to other studies they added a final stage of group development which the called adjourning (Tuckman & Jensen, 1977). The adjourning stage will not be reviewed in this paper since there was no real adjourning stage with this group. Another model for group development is the punctuated equilibrium...

...Name: Jesús Garcia Jordà Culminating Field Experience: Final Reflection Directions: Reflect on your professional journey. In an essay, describe the three most important things you have learned and will utilize during your first year of teaching. Also, reflect on your observations of student learning. Include specific examples from your culminating week of instruction. Introduction It is not easy to choose what are the most important things I have learned in the Teacher Ready Program. My wife is a teacher as well. I have been discussing with her the content of the course and she thinks it covers a wide range of skills and abilities every teacher should learn. She even considers that there are some topics in the program that she would have liked to learn when she did her program. I think the program is really well structured and all of the lesson and modules are necessary. In any case, the three most important things, I consider, I have learned can be grouped into the following categories: classroom procedures and classroom management, how to unpack and scaffold...

...This is my writing experiences and history. I started with creative writing which I never completed and for school and then writing an essay on a subject which I just read a book on for homeschooling. When there was a deadline I always got it finished and as quick as possible and then making sure there is no grammar or spelling mistakes. My biggest weakness is that I procrastinate and will not sometimes finish a project. I will get anything done on time if there is a set deadline but otherwise will not usually get finished. My approach to English assignments is to get an idea, and then get it written or typed down, and then work on the grammar and spelling, and look for any missed punctuation. I spell much better than I did years ago from...

...Epistemological Reflection in the First Year Experience Course Program Charge The Student Development Division staff subcommittee of ABC Community College has been tasked to present to the Dean of Student Affairs a theory based program to foster student development. The subcommittee proposes a revision to the first year experience course curriculum which will integrate outcomes based on Baxter Magolda’s Model of Epistemological Reflection. Proposed Program Goal and Context Overall, this program is designed to “validate students as knowers, situate learning in the students’ experiences, encourage the processes of jointly constructed knowledge, and facilitate learning relationships that empower students” (Bock, 1999, p. 39). More specifically, the First Year Experience Curriculum Revision will challenge first-year community college students’ assumptions about the nature, limits, and certainty of knowledge (Evans et al., 2010, p. 125). Target Demographic The traditional and nontraditional community college students enrolled in a first year experience course are the target demographic for this program. While the average age of the community college student is twenty nine years old, the students enrolled in the first year experience course will range from new high school graduates to working adults. Program Description The proposed student development initiative will be carried out through curriculum revision of a First Year Experience Course. This course will...

...I was also interested in how impactful and meaningful the experience felt to individuals who were in Paris at the time of the attacks compared to my outsider’s perspective. A friend of a friend, Daniel, agreed to skype with me and discuss his feelings about the experience he had undergone the previous week. Our talk was heartfelt and led me to tears multiple times. He started his story by explaining that, as most Parisians, on the night of the 13th November, he was at home watching television and following the news as journalists themselves discovered the tragic events one by one. “The number of casualties were rising by the minute, it was awfully shocking” he said. He explained that being present in Paris at the time of the attacks made a substantial difference to him than if he had not been there. In fact, Daniel was in London during the Charlie Hebdo massacre and did not feel as compassionate towards the situation as the people in Paris did, including myself. Seeing...

...My time spent at the Campus School has flown by. This clinical experience has been so informative and transformative for me. I have been able to gain so much knowledge, insight, and most importantly, build relationships during my time at the Campus School. When I first arrived at the Campus School I was a little taken back. I was informed that it was a pediatric population that was pretty severe. Other than that, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I arrived and found a population that was medically complex, had a lot of equipment needs, and had large care teams to help support the students and their families. All of the students have developmental delays, are non-verbal and various levels of cognition. I was nervous to start working with this population, but I was excited for the challenge....

...In today’s world, Marketing is the heart of a successful business. A company can only maintain its competitiveness through extensive marketing. A company can market itself in many ways. Apple, for example, has marketed itself through innovation. As the demand for marketing increases, marketing has become more complex than ever, and as a result, marketers have to be more creative to find some efficient ways to satisfy their clients. Therefore, they have designed many marketing strategies that can help them deal with their clients who somehow feel their competitors have outdone them. With this reflection, this paper outlines a brief overview of my observed marketing techniques of Coca Cola Company. It is worth noting that this paper is my personal reflection, and whatever I said has not been verified, hence, do not take it seriously. Marketing is everywhere. A shopkeeper display his goods in the shelves, in a way that will make anyone who walk in the shop buy something without giving it a thought. However, some companies have gone further in marketing their products to consumers. For example, Coca Cola markets itself in a way that makes consumers associate it with thirst and playing. Although many Australians watch AFL, my favourite sport is a game of soccer, which has made me like drinking Coca Cola. Every time I think of soccer, I think of Coca Cola. This marketing style is very important because it make consumers affection towards the brand a lasting relationship. However, it...
