Since the beginning of this class, I have both intentionally and unintentionally become increasingly aware of my personal and professional self and how I relate to and interact with others on a daily basis. I have developed and followed through with my Maintenance Self-Care Plan, by kicking the cigarette habit, and exercising more. I am beginning to focus on different methods to minimize stress by doing things like leaving a half hour earlier than usual for work, and enjoying the scenery along the way. I find that my day seems to be a lot more enjoyable on the days that I intentionally wear a big smile and greet people first. I tent to laugh a lot more at the very things that once frustrated me, and I really feel good about that.

I also realize that I pay attention to others a little differently these days. By that I mean that where I used to seek to expose the differences between us, I now see a lot more similarities. Not so long ago, I found more reasons to alienate others (or perhaps myself), but more recently I prefer to connect. I have re-formed my perspective on a few ideas such as love, sexuality, and especially gender roles.

Finally my outlook on my future and how I fit into this evolving world we live in has undergone some adjustment as well. I have a clearer vision of who I want to be and how I want to live. I have begun a new habit of setting short term goals just so I can be excited all over again each time I complete them. I also have set up some mid-term and long-term goals and I review them weekly so as to re-define them as necessary, and to stay on track and focused. Working on my portfolio has really helped me to shape the vision of how the world will begin to see me in the near future.
As I look back and compare what I remember to what I envision when I look ahead, I am grateful for being able to recognize progress and mental growth. This

...As a member of this group, I think everyone was treated with respect and that was one of the key attributes of that group. This allowed everyone to feel comfortable enough to express their voices and opinions. With the artefact project, we were all able to provide input and all of our individual ideas were taken considerably and never turned away.
