The book that has influenced me the most would have to be Flatland by Edwin A. Abbott. This novel tells the story of a two dimensional shape who goes by the name of A Square and discovers the realm of the third dimension. The story has influenced because as a result of having read it I know approach not only science and math problems in a different perspective, but I approach life with a new set of eyes. In the novel the square has a sphere revealed to him, which was a traumatic incident to the square. Now, being a two dimensional shape all he can see in front of him are lines. We listen to the soundbites and make quick judgements on how we feel about a person or topic. We hear a politician say one thing and choose not to look into his/her full policy, what the consequences will be or even if the politician has a past of following up on his word. We see one celebrities tweet and they either become an icon or a villain in our eyes based on those 140 characters we saw. Characters that taken out of context could have a completely different meaning than what was intended. There are several truly amazing and miraculous things that the human body and mind can do, but there is also a major flaw in mankind. That is how easy it is for our senses to be tricked and deceived by reality. Think of how often in our daily lives it is that miscommunications and misinterpretations of others actions causes distrust, drama, and often a sense of despair. Every time we choose to jump to a conclusion we run the very valid risk that we are wrong and every time that happens negative consequences are soon to
