1. What strategy did this teacher use to make student thinking visible?
The teacher in this video used several strategies to make students thinking visible. One of the main ways she was able to see how the students were thinking is by walking around the room and listening to her students discussions within their groups. She was able to hear when students were struggling with the relationship of the numbers and hear what strategy student were using to figure out the relationship among the numbers.

2. How has this lesson helped you understand the 4th and 5th grade common core state standards for mathematics?
This lesson has helped me understand the fourth and fifth grade common core
State standards for mathematics by again showing me why it is important for students to be able to work in groups or peers so they can help explain their thought process to their peers. Students were working in groups and were able to feed off of each other’s responses and thinking on how the numbers in division related to each other. The teacher used the different questions throughout the room to implement the different stages of mathematical practice. The video highlighted to me how I could implement activities in my math classroom that would allow students to look for relationships of numbers through different strategies. Through this video I have an understanding that the mathematical practice is a tool to help students realize there are different strategies to answer problems. I watched students drawing out pictures that showed their thinking skills where other students were having to write out their reasoning on the number relationships.
