“We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace within ourselves.”

The sole focus of an individual is dynamic fulfillment that derives from ones inner sphere signifying outer peace. Peace within one’s self is gained through sacred meaning, and the diminishing of inner turmoil that restricts inner peace in which individuals require in order to achieve external peace within the world .Internal strife and peace will lead the restoration of peace in the outer world. In both Christianity and Islam, sacred texts are vital sources of information on all aspects of peace. They demonstrate principal teachings about peace, and teachings on inner peace as well as supporting the ultimate aim of world peace.
Although man is unable to avoid conflict, they can teach themselves to respond in ways that avoid negative outcomes. The scriptural text, the New Testament is used as a sacred text among Christians as it is the key principal and foundational element of teaching. Peace is an underlying value that has been conveyed through the form of a message conveyed to Christian believers. Peace is at the heart of Jesus’ life and ministry. The New Testament expresses peace as virtue as it a key element of the reign of God. Jesus himself is known as the “prince of peace”. Peace being a common notion throughout Christian scriptural literature emphasize’ the importance of peace, combating conflict in which derives away from peace. The New Testament encounters inner peace as it an imperative characteristic in which individuals strive to achieve. Inner peace can be obtained through distinct resorts involving prayer, gaining trust and closeness with God leading to one’s found inner dimension of peace. The adaptations of inner peace results in conformity within one’s self and the world as an entirety. “If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all” (Romans 12:18). Paul’s writing addresses the state in which Christian individuals and communities of the expectation that Christians live in peace with others. Inner peace is achieved through the diminishing of negative factors that lead to the destruction of inner peace, inner turmoil, global factors ‘war’ in which leading to the difficulty in which individuals and communities faces as a whole. The bible offers guidance on the importance of inner peace and the distinct ways peace is achieved. One way in which an individual may overcome intervening of inner peace can be through confession in the Catholic Church in which is able to guide an individual to find peace. Mathew 6: ‘ whenever you pray, go into a room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret”. This demonstrates the importance of personal prayer as a way to be alone with God, which enables one to gain a sense of peace. The Bible specifies the importance of inner peace, as a way to become more connected, leading to the formation of a stronger bond with God.

Individuals must understand conflict before it can be resolved. Christian teachings encourage adherents’ and their churches to work for peace in the world. Peace is an ongoing challenge that individuals and religions face in order to obey Gods message and comply with scriptural teachings. There are many commonalities in which would result in world peace through, ensuring the poor have basic necessities, respect human dignity and promoting respect for rights, basic elements that are to a negligible extent addressed. The Christian church is called by the God of peace to be a community of peace helping individuals internally in order to restore peace within the wider world. Christian world peace organizations base their mission statements on the teachings of the Bible, numerous Christian organizations receive attention as they promote awareness and a deepened understanding of peace and the wider world, also demonstrating the New Testament and the portrayal of peace. The National Council of Churches Australia launched an ‘Act for peace campaign’ aiming to reduce negative burdens that evident in the world, poverty, the protection of refugees and the empowerment of communities. Exodus 23:6 states “ do not deny justice to your poor” engaging humanity as one kind belonging to God, as NCCA stands for renewing communities through eliminating external global issues. Peace being a procedure that is achieved within one entity, ‘the children of God’ assigns the areas that restrict peace in which churches advocate and stand for. Christians aim to contribute to peace in the world simply by their shape of their lives. Outer peace involves God in which is instilled internally within individuals and other people. Christian denominations target specific issues. The world council of churches urges Christian churches to advocate for just peace. Christian authoritative figures accompanying the notions of peace. This is exemplified through the unity of Pope Francis and the Middle East leaders calling for peace despite the distinct religious barrier’s as peace is a basic fundament evident within religions. Peacemaking calls for encouragement as it binding individuals together as peace is a mission in which individuals aim to fulfill, duty wise for God and in search of individual fulfillment as Christianity targets the ‘outer world’. A common commandment evident within the New Testament ordains adherents’ “you shall love you neighbour as yourself.’ (Mt 19:19). This verse indicates peace as a whole rather than with the focus on oneself. In contrast inner peace is achieved through lesser means and is easily accomplished as inner peace is of benefit for an individual and their way of life in which God is present in. whereas outer peace is an external dimension needing to be achieved through believing adherents’ and incorporating commonalities, peace, justice, acceptance. Resulting in gain of outer peace. However the implications of inner peace contribute to the shaping of the outer world as peace eliminates worldly injustices.

Peace is not the absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means. Similar to Christianity, peace is also a central idea within Islam. In the Islamic sacred text, the Quran’ references to peace are made 67 times demonstrating the importance of sacred texts for adherents’ understanding peace. Hadiths are also used as they give Muslims insight into the sayings and actions of the Muhammad, in order to be implemented throughout individual’s lives and find inner peace and outer peace in which Islam revolves around. Islam is fundamentally one of peace. the greeting in Islam is ‘As-salamu-Alaykum’ peace be with you removing all barriers between individuals as ‘salam’ greetings are for all individuals as the 99 names of Allah consist of peace, mercy, forgiver in which are attributes that individuals adapt internally in order to gain a sense of peace. The Quran refers to Islam as ‘the paths of peace (5:16) and Islam regards the mission of the Prophet Muhammad as one of peace and mercy to humankind. From an Islamic perspective inner peace is obtained through God and the 5 pillars of Islam that are basic guidelines in which individuals a higher dimension elevating one’s status with God and their internal instincts as inner peace leads within ones self will be conveyed throughout one’s outer nature. In Islam the concept of peace is two fold. First and foremost peace is the nature of Allah’ will, Allah has to be established in order to find rest within oneself and the rest of the world. There is a reciprocal relationship between inner and outer peace in which numerous Islamic organizations address worldly issues that concern the nation of Islam (ummah) as whole. The NSW Islamic council evokes unity through uniting Muslims globally in order to achieve just outcomes through the diminishing of negative factors. This is exemplified through there aims and purposes to, promote unity and solidarity amongst Muslims, promote peace understanding and good relations amongst all. Numerous organizations and Muslim leaders contribute to programs and events with leaders of other religious faiths in strive of peace. Throughout the world there are extensive Muslim countries that have prominent activists working on the notion of peace. A common word is a document initiated by Muslim scholars and Christianities authoritive figures complying through inter faith dialogue as both Islam and Christianity are provided with sacred texts governing there way of life. Inter faith dialogue compare and contrast similar purpose convey, “Love of the neighbor” both Islam and Christianity unite and fulfill there duty to God as commandments have to be implemented within one’s life. Outer peace islamically is void if justice isn’t present, as justice and peace correlate with each other as justice will result in the dispersion of outer peace.
Placing aside outer conflict individuals and communities can gain insight into a deeper profound understanding of inner peace. As individuals experience and witness the turmoil, unrest, war and devastation in the world, the absence of peace and the need for peaceful atmospheres becomes apparent. Peace cannot exist in a society unless individuals within that society change and experience peace within themselves. For an individual to be at peace the exceeding of boundaries is required in order to overcome one’s deceitful ego and priorities towards virtues. There are many attributes that destroy the presence of inner peace, jealousy, selfishness, greed, anger by transcending to a higher level, where the demanding ego is no longer a dominating force. The prophet Muhammad said” you have returned from a smaller jihad (battle) and now it is incumbent upon you to perform your greater jihad”. The greater jihad is associated with “the battle with ones nafs (ego personality) as internal jihad within one’s self is a life long mission. Allah states in the Quran “you should know that by remembering Allah hearts, become tranquil and at ease.” An individuals level of imam( faith) will determine their level of inner peace the more Iman and trust an individual places in Allah the more detached from this world and its contains, allowing individuals to focus on a higher purpose in which Allah has revealed throughout the Quran. Attaining peace within ones life is gaining balance through rejecting worldly aspects that destroy ones inner peace as Allah tells us throughout the Quran “and people who truly find faith” it’s the best form of peace as that inner tranquility and calmness obtained will define one’s purpose and will be present externally.
In conclusion Islam and Christianity place significant emphasis on both inner peace and outer peace. However as stated above outer peace cannot be achieved without inner peace as they are one entity thus one cannot be achieved without the other. Both Muslim and Christian leaders advocate for peace in unjust circumstances as there are numerous barriers that restrict peace , individuals gradually develop peace as it through revelation and belief that the bigger picture and purpose is viewed in which is God. Attaining inner peace guides an individual throughout there journey of life as good actions and helping others are basic key fundaments binding with peace. Therefore peace is a strife in which individuals and communities, religions and nations are in search for resulting through the development of internal and external peace through multiple phases in which are faced within life and there remedies that evoke ones inner and outer state.

...The Influence of Religion on Society’s Daily Life By Aris Totle FOUN 1001: English Society, as it is known, is built on the basis of religious teachings. Religion has a huge impact on daily life. Almost every aspect of everyday life has been influenced by religion. Religion can be described as a system of shared beliefs. Christianity, being the most widely practiced religion in the world, especially in western territories such as the United States of America, Europe, and the Caribbean; has also been the most influential. Although many persons may not be practicing the Christian religion, their values and daily practices are still mandated by Christian beliefs. The biggest influence that Christianity has on everyday life probably is that the social norms that exist in society today are almost all based on the teachings of this religion. Social norms refer to rules that govern socially acceptable behaviour. Societal norms and practices in western civilizations are largely dictated by Christian beliefs. Religion greatly impacts the morality of individuals within these societies. Collectively as a society, and individually, persons attempt to live their lives in accordance with codes of morality and ethicality. Morals refer to an individual’s own principles regarding right and wrong. Ethics also relates to right and wrong conduct. There is a strong connection between religion and morality and ethics. ...Ashley Castle World Religions D040 April 26, 2016 Extra Credit Islam and Sikhism are basically different religions that reflect different beliefs about God. These differences reflect fundamentally different views on the nature of the relationship between God and the individual, as well as differing practices of worship. Islam means “complete surrender to the trusting God” and Sikh, from the Sanskrit or Hindi word “Shishya” means disciple. These two religions have a founder that connected with god and were told to teach others about him and to be their leaders. The founder of Islam is Muhammad, which means the worthy of praise. At the age of forty, Muhammad experienced something strange, while he was meditating in a cave outside of mecca, on Mount Hira when an angle named Gabriel (jibril) appeared to him and delivered a special message from Allah, which means the God. He recited Qur’an to his people of mecca and the people started to believe that Muhammad was a prophet. ...Religion has been a really hot topic ever since it was established and it has been the cause of devastating battles in the entire world. Two of the most remarkable effects that organized religion has caused in society today has to do with the establishment of the laws and rules that society is govern. The other significant effect of organized religion has to be the influence in behaviors and traditions. Since the early stages of humanity religion has played a very important role in the creation of rules and guidelines for society. Religion provided the standards in which kings and rulers of the land based their laws over their subjects and maintain power for a very long time. These rules had evolved into the current laws that government had implemented into their judicial system. The example that illustrate this evolution is how the roman catholic religion influenced European and the American governments. Europeans specially the Spaniards based their laws deeply on their religion and emphasize all their efforts into converting anyone with a different ideology into christianity. This was evident during the conquer of the American continent when the native americas were rip off their believes because they were different and had to be subdued. Even after the independence from Europe laws were based on believes and gradually changed into todays rules and regulations for society. Depending of the geographical location and the respective religion of the area many societies behaved...

...Modern Religion Christianity has evolved in many ways over the centuries. When you look back from when Christianity was first discovered until now it has gone through many changes. Over time the world has become more technologically advanced and people in the world have gone through many changes as well. It is very important that churches adapt and keep up with the modern day ways of life. A few decades ago when the Christian churches wanted to go and minister to people they traveled by car or even foot and went and knocked on people’s doors. In today’s world if a church wants to minister to the community all they have to do is get online and they can reach out to millions of people at a time. The Christian churches today that are still very traditional and still do things by the book are the churches that aren’t really growing as fast. When you look at the Christian churches that have advanced technology and have made changes to accommodate the modern world those are the churches that are thriving. For example, there are Christian churches today that have applications that you can download and donate money online or even download a bible directly to your phone. In today’s world, convenience is the key. People in the modern world want things to be instant and easily available to them. That is the way that the world is and if the Christian religion is going to continue to grow then it has to move at the same speed the rest of the world is moving. As the world grows...

My friends are not the most tolerant people when it comes to non-European faiths. Leading up to this Sabbir had to educate me in my behavior, dress, and what to expect in general. I was to wear casual attire but no shorts or anything with loud print. He said the best thing to do would be to wear something that I would wear to my church. The emphasis was on not wearing anything distracting. He also said the best thing to do would be to watch and keep silent and ask questions afterwards. You don’t talk during the prayer itself. People such as me spend a lot of time trying to make sense of their life. I believe that everything we do is leading us to a place in our life. What is in store for them? Why did God or their God choose this path for them? In my religion we believe that we are here for a small time and these tracks we lay in life pave our way to a greater ending. Some get comfort from the certainty of death in believing that there is something greater. That is does not end with death. When you think of religion and its teachings, you are taught for example the Ten Commandments. These are guidelines that will lead us to eternal bliss. I think that many religions operate in the same way. Describe three (3) examples of behaviors or beliefs you observe that meet the criteria you established above. ...individuals have been studying the different religions of the world only to find there are many obstacles in this area. Webster dictionary defined religion as “a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices.
