Religious Tendencies Religion, one little word that can spark the largest argument that one has ever heard. But what is religion? Religion is the act of believing in a higher deity or deities that can control the cosmos, or not believing. It is the way society is grouped based on who they suppose controls life. For example in the Christian religion people believe in the holy trinity. Over the decades society has evolved and with the advancement of science and math some aspects of religion have been disproved. Yet though all decades of time religion has survived and is still a predominate part of our society. Religion has been able to survive over generations of scientific and mathematical advancement for many different reasons; its place in our history, politics, human necessity, and belief. First and foremost, Religion has always been predominating in our history. When our Neanderthal ancestors were first beginning to civilize, they needed a way to explain why things happened a certain way. They had no or very little math and science. So in order to explain the sun rising and falling without fail they came up with a god or gods. They used these religious deities to explain the cosmos. Why everything happens and why. This is how the Greeks came to believe in Zeus, Hades, and Athena. As Human being we have a thirst to know why things happen. In the past without the science and technology we have today we had no way of knowing that the Aztec god Tlaloc didn’t bring the rain and it was really caused by osmosis. As we go down history’s time line we see that religion was not just used as a belief system to explain the cosmos, but a political tool. When the Spaniards conquered the Aztecs, they made them convert to Catholicism. It was used as an instrument of control. They controlled the people by controlling their belief system. I will review my primary and secondary thinking styles as revealed by the LSI, along with one limiting style. I will also discuss how these styles have an impact on my potential management styles, and my personal styles. Even though I may not like to admit the accuracy of the LSI results I find they are shockingly accurate. As I have spent the past couple of days reviewing the result and contemplating the interpretation it has opened my eyes. As shown in my LSI Circumplex my primary style is The Oppositional Style. This trait is found in the 7 o’clock position of the LSI Circumplex and is defined as “…scale measures our tendency to use the defensive and aggressive strategy of disagreeing with others, and to seek attention by being critical and cynical.” (Human Synergistics Inc, 2010). This is not a style that I had thought I would be so strongly tied to, however when reviewing the generalized characteristics of the style I found myself in agreement with the summary. ...After watching the videos given, it shows that handling employees can be very difficult day to day causing stressful situations. All employees are different and perform tasks in diverse ways. I noticed that introverts tend to refresh by spending time alone. These people tend to lose energy from being around people for extended periods of time and mainly big crowds. If I had to take care of my employees that were introverts, I would make sure I perform my manners in a correct way. I would teach them new skills in a private setting, give them time and space, and I wouldn’t interrupt them. They have the tendency to think everything through before doing so. Likewise, in the video, it stated that introverts don’t necessarily like to be alone, they just prefer small group of friends. Therefore, extroverts develop energy from other people.
