...decisions to executives through e-mail after two weeks on the job. However, two months later, she found that no one responded her decisions. Problems: 1. Senior personnel change The suddenly senior personnel change is one of the serious problems. At first, Cabletronica appointed Sampson to be the new head of CA, replacing the well-regarded founder, Frances Wong, who was very familiar with the operation of CA. Moreover, the period that Sampson started the appointment was in the busiest time of year, there were a lot of tasks of design and manufacturing to achieve a strong end-of-year holiday sales. The most serious problems were that although Sampson had professional financial ranks and successful background, she did not work with line managers in a manufacturing setting. 2. Communication system The problem of communication system led to no one responded Sampson’s decisions. It was an ineffective way to announce the important changing of policies to executives through e-mail memorandum, because e-mail is a low powerful communication channel in business communication. Although Cabletronica generally used e-mail to communicate, it was not as well as at CA. While Wong, who was very familiar with the process of CA, indicated that e-mail was not an effective way to announce, Sampson still insisted her own idea. There is a communication...

...Steele had enunciated, “Reading is to the mind as exercise is to the body.” Another important aspect of Reading is that between the written text and the reader, there should be interaction. This interaction is called comprehension. It is a phase of reading where after decoding the text people react to it. Hence, reading without the concept of understanding is not reading but vocalizing. Putting it simply, reading should have comprehension. Unfortunately, poor comprehension is the prevalent disease of learners today. Thus, the researcher has initiated this action research to show the importance of encouraging the mastery of reading. Make everyone aware of it as an important tool to be incorporated in all subjects. Through this Reading Remedial Program, development of comprehension will be enhanced with activities focusing on the following five vital reading skills: 1) following directions 2) getting the main idea 3) noting details 4) predicting outcomes and 5) making inferences. These five skills are relevant needs of the students today. According to Aristotle, we are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act but a habit. ...Caldwell County School requires its students to take five English courses before graduation. Four of the five courses are selected and mandated by the state (English I-IV). The fifth English is mandated by our county and they created a course called Communication Skills. The course originally was sequenced to occur at the beginning of a student’s freshmen year during the fall semester. Students were then scheduled to take English I in the spring. English I, at that time, had an End-of-Course test, so it gave students county-wide a year to prep for the state exam. In recent years, the End-of-Course exam has been removed from English I and replaced with the English II exam. However, Communication Skills has never changed sequence. Now, years later, the curriculum now mandates that every junior take the ACT. Since Communication Skills is designed primarily to teach grammar and mechanics, there has been a suggestion to move this course to the fall of a student’s junior year to help them be successful on the grammar and writing portion of the ACT. 4....

...SFC Sharp and the Secret papers CLEARLY DEFINE THE ETHICAL PROBLEM Upon being assigned the of Communications NCOIC position at 99th Infantry Battalion, I learn that the previous NCOIC SFC Sharp might have committed a COMSEC violation be it intentionally or accidently. The violation is that some pages from a communications security book marked SECRET were discovered unsecure outside the security vault and the book that held the pages was certified as destroyed two weeks ago by SFC Sharp. My assumption is that the communications room outside the storage vault follows the same procedures for classified storage preventing unauthorized entry with badging, sign in verification logs and cypher locks for doors. Prior to my discovery of the COMSEC incident I have learned through other soldier’s opinions and my own observations that SFC Sharp is an excellent mentor and leader. It appears that SFC Sharp has always put the best interests of his soldiers first and foremost. My ethical problem is do I handle the situation strictly by the book effectively “burning” Sharp for the rest of his career or should I apply “good ol’ boy” method covering up the incident for good? EMPLOY APPLICABLE LAWS AND REGULATIONS I would need to reference the 99th Infantry Battalion SOP pertaining to COMSEC storage and unauthorized disclosure of classified material. REFLECT ON THE ETHICAL VALUES AND THEIR RAMIFICATIONS Paragraph 4.1 from FM 6-22 states: Character, a person’s moral and ethical qualities...

...Implementation of Business Process Management The implantation of the program is incumbent on the support of the leader’s involvement from beginning to end. I am going to focus on the three tiers of the same process showing the different levels of responsibility and how they are to support each other. The stakeholders are in the three tiers are as follows. TRANSCOM Transportation Movement Center, Company Operations Center, and the Transport Specialist. There is a support system in the Battalion Operations Section which supports and reports to all three levels. Each position is form under the concept of each being an office. I will describe the duties of that office and that is the responsibility of the person holding the office to fulfill. STAKEHOLDER 1 The first position is the TRANSCOM Movement Specialist; receives the movement order from customer. After accepting the application the specialist calls customer to verify that order is correct and meets specifications. Clarifies transportations needs and determines what, if any special handling is required to fulfill request. After verification the office then assigns request to be fulfilled and orders is transmitted to the appropriate Battalion Operations who then assigns it to the Company operations that will fulfill request. This stakeholder is also responsible for the tracking of the order from beginning to end; supports the completion by communicating with the requestor and ensuring the customer meets their...

...Chapter 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING Introduction Unsurprisingly, English is the second most spoken language after Mandarin. To add on to this fact, more people can easily communicate in English compared to any other language. Undoubtedly, the popularity of the language has termed English as the international language of diplomacy, business, science, technology, banking, computing, medicine, aviation, engineering, tourism, and even the UN & NATO armed forces, Hollywood films and the best pop and rock music of the world. Apart from these unfamiliar and strange facts, there are still several other reasons that state the importance of learning the universal language, English. To cite some of them, they are as follows: After graduating high school, if a student is seeking admission in a reputable college or university, one must be very knowledgeable in English, otherwise he/she won’t be admitted. And if after finishing college he would then apply for a job but most companies welcome those candidates who are fluent in English and have the relevant qualification and skill set. However, candidates with the relevant qualification without having proper knowledge of English language are being rejected after some sort of personal interviews. Also, most of the businesses engaged in dealing with international clients and suppliers prefer using English as the primary source of communication. While people have their own native languages, English serves as the most common...

...to give students the means and motivation to take ownership of their own learning. This means that students need to be responsible for their own learning. Students themselves must have the initiative to discover what to learn and how to learn. At the same time, teachers play important roles to encourage students to monitor and support their own learning. More powerful learning happens when students have more control over their own learning through such assessment practices. They should not be excluded from the assessment process. Students will be able to know what they are ready to learn next. Through formative assessment, students are able to know and understand their specific learning goals clearly. This can be done through direct communication which involves interactions between teacher and student and student and student. Students are informed directly their specific learning goals. For example, at the beginning of the lesson, teacher can tell the students they will be tested on “Adverbs” at the end of the lesson. When the students are clear of what they have to learn in the learning activities, they will concentrate their efforts to the specific learning areas and improve overall performance. Furthermore, teachers are able to identify students’ current knowledge and skills and decide the steps to be taken to achieve the desired goals. Formative assessment highlights the...

...Due to the development of information and communication technology (ICT), plagiarism becomes a much more serious problem in the academic community as plagiarism are easily committed with the help of ICT. In this report, my focus will be on the types of Academic Plagiarism, Academic Policy used and how plagiarism will affect the students and organization. “What is plagiarism?” [1] In my opinion, I believed that plagiarism is the act of passing someone else's work as your own without giving credit to the original.
