...something clear. Although these seven things really bother me, I still like the car. I don't have buyer’s remorse, because [my Cadillac developed an unsolvable problem]. Even though the Infiniti M37 isn’t perfect, I would be in a much worse situation if I still had the SRX. I will say I expected more from the five-year newer Infiniti product in the technology department. There are a bunch of things that this car is missing that Cadillac has had in place for a decade. Let it be known that there are many positive aspects of my new used car. Rest assured that...

...326). In the modern world, in every home, place of business and road side there are devices that help to fight and detect fire such as sprinklers and fire hydrants. Sprinklers allow for fires to be extinguished from about and fire alarms alert occupants that there is a fire so that they may flee to safety. Despite the slight differences in the book such as automated mice that shoot water onto the fire, many of the same principles still apply in devices in the modern world. Another foresight that Bradbury as of his ‘futuristic home’ is the automatic starting car. In the story, the narrator depicts the automated home system starting a car that is in the garage from within the house (Bradbury 323). Over the last decade push start cars and car starting remote controls have made their appearance. Although all cars do not have push start buttons or remotes, they are becoming more and more popular over time. These automatic starting cars is just another example of how Bradbury’s vast imagination has become a reality. Bradbury’s idea of the future is a world that requires no physical effort, even though the modern world is not quite there yet it is sure on its way. The modern world is evolving day to day as a result, a portion of Bradbury’s predictions that have not yet come true may be created in years to come. Even though this futuristic story was written in the 1950’s, many of its components are relevant in the comfy lifestyle that the present-day world lives. ...

In the course of a call, if any button is pressed, a tone corresponding to the button pressed is heard at the other end of the call. This tone is called DTMF (dual-tonemultiple- frequency). The car perceives this DTMF tone with the help of the phone stacked in the car. The received tone is processed by the (ATmega16) microcontroller with the help of DTMF decoder MT887o. The decoder decodes the DTMF tone into its equivalent binary digit and this binary number is sent to the microcontroller. The microcontroller is programmed to take a decision for any given input and outputs its decision to motor drivers in order to drive the motors in forward direction or backward direction or left and right direction. The mobile phone that makes a call to mobile phone stacked in the car act as a remote. For that reason this paper does not require the construction of receiver and transmitter units. I. ...launched at the same time. Knowing that Camry is the best-selling car in the past 13 years, VW was challenged and thought that they should get out ahead of this launch and win consumers’ interest ahead of the Camry. Therefore, VW came up with their key objectives in achieving their sales goals – To get the consumers talking about the new and redesigned Volkswagen Passat, to exceed the key measures in Nielsen’s post-game study, and to get the consumers’ interest 7-months earlier before it will be on sale. VW came up with the big idea that “The Volkswagen Passat can help you lead a richer life.” One of the reasons for this idea was the fact that car users want something more and beyond normal transportation yet meets their budget, but it is more about the truth that these buyers want to have a car that can help them have a richer life by having the gratification of affording a car for themselves and their families from their hard work – giving them some sort of a status. They chose the 2011 Super Bowl to announce the new Volkswagen Passat and I think that was a very smart thing to do considering that it is the biggest stage in US which will correspond to an enormous number of audiences. They also made an advertisement entitled “The Force” which clearly used one of the product’s features – the keyless remote start. They involved in the story a kid dressed up like Darth Vader and the said feature (keyless remote style) which helped to enrich the kid’s and the family’s everyday...

...Week 3 individual LAW 421 Tort law can exist in many different ways from keyless cars to personal pets and animals that could cause damage to someone. Liability and negligence are two of the main portions and apply to just about all tort cases in some way or another. Taking a look at a few different cases we can see both negligence and liability on both parties of each case and the decision can be yours to make. Keep in mind that negligence is the failure to exercise the care that a reasonably prudent person would exercise in like circumstances ("Negligence", 2011). Strict liability is a standard for liability which may exist in either a criminal or civil context. A rule specifying strict liability makes a person legally responsible for the damage and loss caused by his or her acts and omissions ("Strict Liability", 2011). The first case deals with vehicles and keyless entry and remote start. The video tells the story about owners of keyless start vehicles that were driven and then parked inside of their garage where they were left running and ended up either injuring the owners or in some cases killing them, five (5) in just a few years. Keyless entry and remote start vehicles use a key fob that allows the owner to start and drive the vehicles without ever putting an actual key into an ignition and also allows them to stop driving without having to turn the car off manually. What is happening are the drivers are parking and getting out without pressing the engine stop...

...The Superbowl, being one of the most watched events in the United States, targets a wide audience of viewers. This commercial became memorable due to it's connection to a popular fan base as well as providing innocent and relatable content. This commercial focuses on a young boy who is dressed up like Darth Vader. He is trying to use the force in order to make objects move around his house. When he has gotten to the point where he is discouraged but willing to give it one last try he goes out to his dad's Volkswagen, and attempts to try again, and his dad inside decides to use the remote start to make his child think that he used the force. Through the use of nonverbal communication with gestures and facial expressions as well as posture the commercial conveys a story without any dialog. The young child slouching and hanging his head conveys that he is upset even though we can't see their face. It allows the audience to feel sympathy for this young child as they hang their head because they are discouraged because they can't make their food come towards them using the force. The use of the parents...

...The North American electric car market is at the ferment stage of development. Google “electric car” and you will get many start-ups with their design and plans to “make” the market. The big auto companies have their planned models and so do numerous venture capital start-ups. They all seem to be about 2-3 years away from launching their products. The problem is battery range and power. With today’s technology, a small, low cost mass produced eCar would have a range of about 80 miles on a charge and a top speed of 60 miles an hour. This is considered not good enough for the market that is used to gasoline cars with top speeds of 100+ and with a range of 300+ miles. The eCar has to get a lot better before it is viable. That is the conventional wisdom. It is wisdom not built on 3D segmentation. It reveals that the eCar makers’ innovation is not matched by their capability to think cleverly about segmenting the market on benefits sought and about how to win the diffusion of innovation race. Cars are used for many different purposes. Is there a profitable usage segment out there that would be happy with the current performance limits of today’s electric car? To think about this let us think about short-distance commuting. People commute downtown and back but public transportation is and will be a serious competitor to urban eCar commuting. People also commute to major suburban business campuses where several thousand employees from the same company work together. The majority are...

...LEGAL, SOCIAL, AND ECONOMICAL ENVIRONMENT OF BUSINESS In the scenario I am an inventor of a product that has combined other products that are dangerous to use but very helpful. With this invention I see that in the future there will be many different ways to use my product in a safe manor just like the TV remote control. I have little skill in the business aspect of things and very little money to start off with. I am trying to figure out what type of business structure (Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, or Corporation) would best suit my needs and help my family out in the long run. To begin, sole proprietorship is a type of business that is the easiest to set-up, it’s all your own money, time and decision making. The business goes on your own tax return, to make it very simple. All the profits you would receive go straight to you and it would take the least amount of money to operate. However, all the liability lies on your shoulders. If the company gets sued due to bad quality products everything you own such as your house, car, or any other valuable assets could be taken away to pay the cost of the damages. An example of this business practice would be a small store or a restaurant. Partnership is a little different in the fact that there are 2 different types. One being general partnership where 2 or more partners contribute everything to the business, money, skills, time, and their effort. With this type each partner is personally liable for all debts of the...

...important role from the early stages of life until the body starts to deteriorate. Information needs to be stored in our memory in order for it to be processed and accessible when needed. The memory portion of the brain allows us to furnish our mind with emotions, knowledge and thoughts that aids in accomplishing everyday tasks. Memory contributes to the ability of recalling events, connecting one point to another, and incorporates the world of the implicit. In other words, memory has the ability to guide the mind through effortless tasks without being consciously aware. For example, a person does not need to recall every motion in riding a bike after the process is already learned. However, memory may be affected by amnesia. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the role of memory and brain structures involved with anterograde and retrograde amnesia Amnesia is a condition that involves partial or complete loss of memory. The severity of memory loss is determined by which part of the brain was affected. Major brain structures involved with memory are the hippocampus and the temporal lobes. The hippocampus is a structure within the brain and part of the limbic system. This structure significantly contributes to memory, and may be related to processing information and the formation of recent memories. According to Kim and Fanselow (1992), damage to the hippocampus results in the impairment of recent memories, but not remote A study conducted by Kim and Fanselow (1992) found damage...
