My initial report
Earth is very abundant place full of many different animals, land masses, body of water, tall buildings, streets, houses, cars. The most curious thing of all is the people here. They came in many different shapes and sizes and colors. They speak different languages and have many different cultures depending on where they live. Among all of that, many people have religion which is very foreign to me and my people. Much more research is needed to figure out why they have these “religions” and why they believe in so many different things. Finding this out may be the key to figuring out the core of these people.

As I traveled over the many land masses of this planet my first stop was the dry Middle East where the dominant religion was Islam. These people call themselves Muslim. They do not eat the meat that comes from the pig because they considered it dirty. They pray 5 times a day facing the east towards Mecca. I spoke with some of these people and they said they found peace when they prayed 5 times a day. Their faith was something that got them through the tough and happy times of life.
My next stop was in Israel where many people there practiced Judaism. They believe like the Muslims that there is only God and pray to him directly. Judaism focuses on the relationships between the Creator, mankind, and the land of Israel. They also have dietary religion views on food like meat that has to be Kosher. They also believe that their faith helped keep them grounded and reminded them to always be grateful for God blessings.

My next stop was to Asia where there are many types of religions practiced there in the West they practice Christianity, but in the east they practice East Asian religions, also called Taoic religions, which are Confucianism, Shinto, and Taoism. (Placeholder1) These three religions are based on teachings they are locally believed be these people where they have strong connection to their ancestors.
Also practiced there are so called Indian religions, also called religion of India, are the predominant and oldest religions of Asia. They include Hinduism which is Hinduism is a way of living according to the one's understanding of principles of Vedas and Upanishads. ( Encyclopædia Britannica Online Library Editon, 2009) Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Gautama, also known as Buddha. Jainism is a religion that prescribes a path of non-violence towards all living beings .Also practiced there is Sikhism or Sikhi which advocates the pursuit of salvation through personal meditation on the name and message of God .These religions are based not so much on believing in one sprituratual being but the belief that being good is within us all but we must strive to achieve that goodness by living the tenets of the faith.

In my travels I have seen that many people follow a certain religion because it is what they parents practiced and what their community around them believes. The easiest way to ensure that the religion will be passed on is to bring up one’s child in that faith. For many people they have deeper connection with their children and their faith when they are able to practice with their children. People also often use religion to justify their meaning here on earth and try be living their practices of their faith achieve the ultimate reward for doing that. Some religions believe in Heaven, Hell or hereafter where your soul or being may go if you have lived a just life by praicting your faith correctly and honestly. Other believe in different kind of final resting place but none of them can be achieved unless you live path your religion has set forth for you. For many of these people religions helps them be the person they what and need to be. Most people understand that in order to live amongst one other you need to have certain rules. Some are provide by the law or the government of the land but others need to be practiced at home and with one another. Be kind to each other, don’t steal, look for the small things in life to make you happy are just a few that come to mind. For many people religion helps them achieve these things that they sometimes are unable to do for themselves. The most basic critia for what religion looks like is easy for me is something one believes in and follows devotedly.

Christianity, Islam and Hinduism are the top religions that represent Earth’s population. These religions represent over 70% of planet earth’s religious beliefs. There definition of religion is the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, esp. a personal God or Gods. At the very least, for a person to be religious, they need not only believe in such a deity, but participate in some sort of traditional activity such as prayer, communication, attending rituals. Also a religious person will usually grant undue authority to their tradition and/or holy book named the bible. They also seem to have this interesting word called Faith, which is something you have to have in your God and believe that he can do all kind of like a Genii. Report on the Religious Life of Planet Earth

...Report on the Religious Life of Planet Earth The religion on Earth looks very primitive. There are many different cultures on Earth and it seems that some want to get along but others do not. In observing the different religions that Earth has is seems as though the Muslim religion is the most confusing. It seems that the Muslims think that they can use their own body as a weapon to destroy others. They think that if they kill themselves they will go to be with “Allah” their god. Most of the Muslims that believe in this seem to think that it is an honor, what a primitive way to think, to kill yourself. It seems as though not all Muslims think this way though. All religions worship some sort of “God”, and they seem to all evolve back to the same God. It seems as though their minds have not evolved to the point where they can comprehend accepting things they don't understand. They are still in the early stages of religion where they only understand spirituality by confining it to their own human form and emotions. For example, their "God" is thought of as a guy that could solve all issues and they often talk to him through what they call prayer asking for him to assist in solving the problems they are having or at least help them solve their problems. It seems that they do not understand that spirituality is much bigger and it includes things that the "religious" often deny. Everyone seems to think that the scientific principles...

...My Visit to Planet Earth Roshaun Dennis ENG 315 4/29/12 I was sent to planet earth to determine if people here are religious. In order to get this information I had to interview people from all backgrounds, beliefs, and regions of the planet. I lived among the people in every continent of the planet and ate their food. I practiced their religion with them. This report is my assessment of what religion looks like. My journey to planet earth has left me with some concerns about the people and the religious practices. I went there to determine if the people on earth are religious. What I found was pretty solid evidence that people on planet Earth are very religious by nature. They believe in a higher power and attend weekly services where they worship their god. For many religion is a way of life, it gives them an identity. Religious beliefs and rituals are often passed down from generation to generation. When this happens there is no true way to validate the information. Therefore it becomes somewhat of a myth, a special story that seems to make sense. I found this behavior to be strange, but it was prevalent in every religion on earth. The function of religion on Earth seems to vary depending on cultural belief and background. Some religious followers live their entire lives through their interpretation of religious texts and teachings, while others live life and incorporate religion where it works best for them. This power of influence makes it easy for...

Religion

...council, on my planet, has appointed me to go to the planet called Earth. My mission is to determine if this Earth is a religious planet or not. Before I embarked on this mission, I asked the council how do I determine this? The religion we practice on our planet may be different than what they do on this planet called Earth. The council explained, “All of religion shares the goal of tying people back to something behind the surface of life, a greater reality, which lies beyond, or invisibly infuses, the world that we can perceive with our five senses” (Fisher, 2011 p.1). I was then told to use the criteria that we use on our planet and apply it to the Earth people. This will determine if Earth is a religious planet or not. The first criteria I will use, is to see if they believe in a higher being. Secondly, do they have regularly established religious service? After checking on the religious services, I would see if they have an established place for praise and worship. If so, I would then see if they have a recognized creed and form of this praise and worship. Lastly, I want to see if they have a dogma, “an official system of principles or tenets concerning faith, morals, behavior, etc., as of a church” (Dictionary, 2012). These are the criteria’s that I will use to determine if this planet Earth is religious or not. When I arrived on planet Earth, I immediately got to work observing the behaviors of the earthlings. Earth was a big planet with lots of people...

When I Visited Planet Earth

...Report on the Religious life of Planet Earth Joan C. Mercieca Strayer University Religion 212 – World Religions Dr. Lawrence Ruddell April 28, 2012 I recently traveled to the planet called Earth to ascertain if people and the planet are religious and what they practice in the aspects of religion. I will give you examples of behavior or beliefs I observed during my visit on Earth. The first thing that I saw was that Earth and its people are separated by many religions and variations of religions. What I mean by this is currently Earth has about forty three hundred belief systems and within these beliefs there are many different sects (Fisher, 2011). According to Barrett (2000), I looked at there are twelve classical major world religions. Babi and Baha'i faiths, Buddhism, Confucianism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Judaism, Shinto, Sikhism, Taoism, and Zoroastrianism (Fisher, 2011). There are many other religions on earth but Christianity is the largest. Christianity comprises of Roman Catholicism, Protestantism, and Eastern Orthodox. What I have observed from Christianity is that they have different sects within. Christian’s believe that there is one God who is supremely powerful and knowing. Christian’s beliefs sounded bizarre to me because they believe that anything is possible if they believe in this God. These Christians believe that their God made the Earth, heavens and animals in six days...

Is Planet Earth a Religious Planet

...Is Planet Earth A Religious Planet? Kevin R. Graves Religion 212 Professor Farnham Strayer University 02/03/12 Is planet earth a religious planet? On the surface it would appear that it is. There are rituals, ceremonies and traditions that the people of earth follow in accordance with their respective religions. On the other hand, in some religions there is corruption, and misdeeds. Also, there are wars fought in the name of religion, which makes me think that religion is not a good thing. In this report, I will be reporting on five of the earth’s 20 major religions. I will be exploring their customs, practices and functions. Along the way, I will comment on the negative aspects of the religion, if any. The ultimate goal of this report is to determine if earth is a religious planet. I started my journey in the East, where I studied Christianity. In Christianity, the people attend church every Sunday or chose to worship at home in their own way. Christianity is a monotheistic religion and the people worship a higher power called God. The people of Christianity follow Ten Commandments that states: Thou shall not, steal, kill, lie, worship Idols, use the lord name in vein, commit adultery, covet what your neighbors have, and in addition to that, one should honor thy Parents, and keep the Sabbath holy. These Commandments are found in the Christian Bible, which is a collect of ancient scriptures, that the Christians hold as the Word of God. Christians...

Bible

...Religion on Earth looked very primitive. Their minds haven't evolved to the point where they can comprehend accepting things that they don't understand. They are still in the early stages of religion where they can only understand spirituality by confining it to their own human form and emotions. For example, their "God" is thought of as a guy with a robe. And they often talk about what he "feels". They don't understand that spirituality is much bigger than that. And that it includes things that the "religious" often deny, like scientific principals, physics and quantum mechanics that are far more elegant than what they have developed to comprehend. They must put them into a human context because they still think they need to completely understand something before it actually exists. They also believe that nothing, including universal and perfect laws of physics is more powerful than the characters they fabricate. They don't realize yet that they are talking about the same things that we already know. I expect that within the next five hundred to a thousand years, they will be able to break free of this limitation and see the higher power in the universe itself - that there are many things that, when we do figure them out, show themselves as complex, yet perfect, and that these forces in the universe are what hold the power of everything that happens here. These forces act as we know, with what appears to be massive intelligence, but not intelligence that even our minds have...

The Religious Life of Planet Earth

...THE RELIGIOUS LIFE OF PLANET EARTH My superiors sent me from my peaceful home plant of Gallifrey. Our religion is complex, but very important to my people. Our beliefs focus on the cause, nature, and purpose in this universe. We are a peaceful people that are called Time Lords. We receive our name for our non-linear perception of time which us allows us to see everything that was, is, or could be at the same time. Because of this we value all life and see the absolute beauty in all life large and small. My superiors feel that the in habitants of the Planet Earth are in religious term-oil because they all believe in many different religions, most of which having the same idea as the next. I have been on this planet for 6 months now and I must report my preliminary findings. The religion I decided to look closer into is Christianity because it is a compassionate religion close to that of my people. Christianity as a religion is monotheistic. Meaning that they only believe in one true "God." Christians believe in a "Holy Trinity." Simply, this is the belief that their God begot a Son, Jesus, and that when he died he became a "ghost" known to them as the "Holy Ghost." Superiors please do not be confused in thinking that this is polytheistic religion. To them God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit are all one in the same. For the most part Christians are loving people. They show compassion towards non-believers and welcome anyone to hear the "Word of Christ." This is their sacred...
