The first areas examined are service and applications. Third-generation (3G) networks consist of CDMA 2000, UMTS, WCDMA, and various others. Fourth-generation (4G) technologies include WiMAX, HSPA+21/42, and LTE, of which many consider LTE to be the only “true” 4G network (Segan, 2013). The introduction of 3G technologies heralded a wide range of possibilities to include the ability for user to wirelessly stream audio, video, visual calling and conferencing, and various mobile multimedia functions to include more streamlined E-mail and general web browsing, online banking, basic video games on demand, mobile TV, and location-based services (4Gon Solutions, 2012). 4G application offerings include four main categories: Localized/Personalized Information, Communications, Organizational, and Entertainment (M-Indya, 2012). Localized/Personalized Information applications will offer users the ability to browse various news outlets, more accurate and improved locational servicers, more enhance mobile commerce (i.e. mobile...

...Compare and contrast 3G wireless networks to 4G networks in terms of: Network architecture User perceptions Today 3G wireless networks and 4G networks are used as the standards for mobile communication. Used most commonly in smartphone devices. They are both sufficient but they run differently. Comparing 3G networks to 4G networks is like comparing standard television to high depth television. They both work but one can work better depending on the viewer who is using it. All different carries are complaint with 3G networks including WCDMA, EV-DO and HSPA. The 4G networks are known as LTE, WiMax and UMB (DIFFERENCE btw 3G & 4G). The service and application between the two are very critical for when a consumer wants to purchase a phone. A significant advantage between the 4G over 3G is QoS support. “ “QoS (Quality of Service) , is a technology that is used by land-based data networks. Basically, QoS makes it possible to vary priority levels for different data streams. For example, VoIP is usually given the highest priority to ensure flawless connection quality. Same with watching online HD videos – they usually get higher priority than other data. The implementation of QoS in 4G networks will enable people to use VoIP applications, such as Skype, on their mobile phones without any loss of quality. It will also enable users to watch high quality online videos straight from their mobile devices” (What is, 2012). Another differance between 3G and 4G that is the speed...

...QUBEE has major plans for the expansion of its WIMAX services in Bangladesh. We conduct sales-support strategy for WiMAX. WiMAX WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is designed to deliver next-generation, high-speed mobile voice and data services and wireless “last-mile” backhaul connections that could potentially displace a great deal of existing radio air network (RAN) infrastructure. For network providers, this will enable an expansive array of multimedia and real-time subscriber services that go well beyond current 2.5/3G applications, including mobile streaming media services, mobile TV, Unified Communications, and Voice over IP (VoIP), which, for the first time, becomes practical and viable on a metro-wide scale through WiMAX. Network service providers can’t take full advantage of mobile voice and multimedia over IP unless there is the potential to manage Quality of Service (QoS). With this in mind, five distinct classes of service quality have been built into WiMAX, allowing a more robust and resilient connection for users who require time-sensitive applications and service level agreements (SLAs). WiMAX can offer a large wireless access network footprint to subscribers (similar to data-enabled cellular services such as UMTS/CDMA), while at the same time providing higher throughputs that are similar to WLAN networks. With its large footprint, high access speeds, built-in QoS and SLA capabilities, WiMAX is an ideal access network for next-generation...
