I do not currently work in the business field, but I have been doing a great deal of business research on tattoo shops. The reason that I have been doing so much research is because my husband and I are planning on opening our own tattoo shop when I complete my schooling, so that I am able to run the business. In the research that we have done we have been comparing the way that the shops are set up and how things are being run. Once we get things set up for our shop we want to be able to guarantee that we have the most comfortable and relaxed shop in town as well as the lowest prices in town. We have been spending a lot of time going into shops and asking questions about the way that they run things. We have only found one shop that was not willing to talk to us and explain how the shops are run. As long as we explained to them that we are going to be opening a shop in a few years and are just wondering if we could get some tips on how to make our business successful, they have no problem with it. The main thing that also helps is that we are not planning on opening the shop where we currently live. Once I am finished with school we are moving back to my husbands’ home town. While we have been asking our questions about the business side it gives us a chance to check out the set up inside the studio. Some of the more popular shops have more comfortable waiting areas, and even the tattoo chairs are more comfortable than the chairs in less popular studios. One of the things that we are planning on doing that the other shops have not been doing is providing Wi-Fi so that the customers who are waiting can get online. We will also be providing a computer that the potential customers can use to look up ideas for the tattoo that they are wanting to get. We have also started putting together a catalog of popular tattoo patterns that the customers will have access to either from an actual book, or they will also be able to access them from the computer that we will have set up. I do not have a business yet but I do know how to do my research for what I am going to be getting myself into.

...Information Technology Acts BIS/220 4/02/2014 E Forrest (Skip) Boyd Information Technology Acts (Andreno, 1999) No Electronic Theft (NET) Act, 1997 In the past most of us would go to the library to seek out information, since the internet and .com age just about everybody is using a computer over the internet whether looking for products or a job. Electronic theft is a growing issue, as more people use the internet for personal and business matters, the criminals are adapting there methods to obtain your information online. Phishing is the act of sending an email message looking like a familiar organization in the attempt to get you to click on the link that they provide, attempting to trick you into giving your personal information. Advantage of the No Electronic Theft Act, congress has taken steps to make it easier to prosecute for electronic fraud. The main reason for this congressional activity is the increasing commercial importance of computers and electronic transactions. Andreano, F. P. (1999) According to one market research firm, “global internet commerce revenues will grow in to the billions of dollars. And with these growing revenues, sophisticated criminals have recognized, and sought to take advantage of, the opportunity for ill-gotten gains. As one author quipped, hackers are no longer youthful pranksters, but have become a sort of net mafia.” Andreano, F. P. Conducting Business Research

...Preparing to Conduct Business Research Team B RES/351 December 4, 2013 Eric Hogan Preparing to Conduct Business Research In the following paper we will analyze, discuss, and research the reasons behind the U.S. military’s rising suicide rate. Before we get into more details, we will have to ask ourselves some questions as part of our research to get the right answers to support our hypotheses in this complex subject. The first question would be: Who are more likely to commit suicide in the U.S. Army, National Guards, or active duty Soldiers? The suicide rate is higher among the National Guard members because active duty members are accustomed to a more structured way of living, established by standard procedures, steady income, and access to support groups at any given time, which translates into a lower suicide rate among active duty members. National Guard and Reserve Soldiers, predominantly serve part-time, which usually consist of one weekend a month and two weeks during the summer, except when activated for deployment missions. Thus, acquiring to adapt to the active duty way of living, which was introduced to them in basic training, in addition, Reservist have to combine his or her personal lives, financial, and work related issues with his or her transition to active duty status. “In addition, most of the suicides occurred outside the military context—not during a weekend drill, or during annual training, and not while performing other active duty military service...

Four theoretical perspectives have been used to discuss the concept employability and the empirical results, i.e., the Human capital theory perspective, Institutional theory perspective, Critical theory perspective, and Actor theory perspective. The research project takes its point of departure in changes of the European and the Swedish labour market during recent years and the ongoing restructuring of Higher Education in Europe. A fundamental principle underlying these movements is the formulation of “Employability” as a thesis that aims at making the European Union the most dynamic and productive Higher Education Area and labour market. A higher degree of “employability” is attainable if the relation between the employee and the employer depend more on market based contracts limited in time, and where the employees are willing to take a higher...

Pien, MD, MPH,† and Jon B. Suzuki, DDS, PHD, MBA‡ isphosphonates (BPs) are a pharmacologic class of synthetic analogs of inorganic pyrophosphate that has an affinity for calcium.1 They are used in the treatment of various malignant and benign metabolic conditions, such as hypercalcemia of malignancy; Paget’s disease of bone; multiple myeloma; and metastases from distant sites such as breast, thyroid, prostate glands, and lung. The Fall of Enron

...The fall of Enron: Corporate Culture, Governance and Ethics Written By: Bilge-Kagan Ozturk 2007 Abstract This paper examines the critical importance of an ethically based corporate/organisational culture to ensuring company-wide ethical conduct. Testament to this topic I use the case of Enron and its ethical demise to successfully support my argument and highlight the need of top level management to be the main proponents of this culture to allow lower level employees to adopt a behaviour of moral reasoning. The body of the essay will highlight the importance of shaping an ethically based organisational culture, through a number of components, namely a company’s executive management team and its corporate governance system. I also briefly evaluate agency and stakeholder theories and how they relate to an organisational culture from an ethical perspective, and point out Enron’s culture was predominantly one of agency reasoning. Finally I provide a brief and direct conclusion to assert my argument that ethics needs to exist deep within an organisation’s culture and needs to be the key leading value of an organisation. A breakdown of ethics can eventually lead to the demise of a once very reputable and successful company. A great textbook example is of course, the fall of Enron – one of the biggest corporate bankruptcies in US history. Like most companies, Enron had a code of ethics in place and employees who were educated in the field of ethics, agency...

...Ballard Case Study Patricia Jones QNT 351 Jan 27th, 2014 Pete Dorsa Introduction and Problem Situation Ballard Integrated Managed Services, Inc. (BIMS) provides food, hospitality, housekeeping and physical plant services for the staff and patients at the Douglas Medical Center. Barbara Tucker, the general manager for this site, has noticed that the morale of her employees has been declining for the past several months. The expected turnover rate is 55-60% annually in this industry. This rate has increased to 64% over the last four months (BIMS Part 1). The use of sick time has increased, overall performance is poor and complaints from the hospital staff are on the rise. Barbara and her management team have not been able to determine why morale is down. The exit interviews that are currently used are not pinpointing the reasons why employees are leaving. Conclusions The data used in the survey is beneficial to the research into why employment morale has decreased for the past several months. Therefore, a questionnaire was designed to examine dependent variable which, “is the key factor that you want to explain or predict and that is affected by some other factors …scholars have emphasized productivity, absenteeism, turnover, and job satisfaction” (Robbins & Judge p. 25). BIMS is experiencing problems with several dependant variables, the focus of this paper examines turnover, which is increasing for BIMS. Each question of the survey addresses issues that require...
