SUBJECT: I'd like some more information.

Dear National Museum of the American Indian,

Hello, I'm Raven Mullins. I found a lot of very helpful information on your website. From researching on your website, I found out a lot about the U.S. Dakota War of 1862, the American Indian Movement, Frances Densmore, and Seth Eastman. I also learned a lot of stuff about Oklahoma, and the Indians that lived in my area after the Removal Act. Even though I've learned so much from being on your website, I still have a few questions.

The reason I am researching information on your website is because I am a student in an Oklahoma High School. I am supposed to do a history report on American Indians, specifically the ones from Oklahoma. I have plenty of information from my history book, but I'd like to do further research about this topic. Native American history is something I'm very passionate about. Therefore, I hope you don't mind if I ask you some questions regarding where to find some more information.

I was wondering, where might I find more information about the Osage Nation on your website? Do you know of any other reliable resources pertaining to Native American history? How many Native American tribes were originally from Oklahoma, and how many were forced here by the white man? I hope my questions aren't a burden, and I appreciate your help very much. Thank you, and please have a pleasant day.

Sincerely,

Raven Mullins

Dear National Museum of the American Indian,

I appreciate your quick response to my questions! I had no idea that you would respond so fast, but I am really glad you did. My questions regarding the Osage Nation, Native Oklahoman tribes, and other reliable resources have been answers to their fullest extent. I am utmost pleased, and I greatly appreciate how you took your time to answer each question so thoroughly.

Your website is very easy to navigate, and with your directions, I found tons of info about the Osage, and Native Oklahoman tribes. Your information is also laid out in a way that is very easy to understand and comprehend. You are the only site that I have found so far that gives so much reliable information about Native Americans. I appreciate your website, and how much time and effort you must put into it.

Thank you for answering all of my questions, and giving me some more resources to look at before I finish my report in my history class. I will definitely be referring back to your website if I need to know anything else. It was extremely helpful to me in my research for my report. Thank you very much, and have a wonderful day.

Sincerely,

Raven Mullins

You Decide 3

...You Decide Scenario: Week 3 Detecting and preventing insider threats is its own discipline, with its own dynamics. If you put these countermeasures in place, you can reduce the threat dramatically. First, you can use an IP packet-filtering router. This type of router permits or denies the packet to either enter or leave the network through the interface on the basis of the protocol, IP address, and the port number. The protocol may be TCP, UDP, HTTP, SMTP, or FTP. The IP address under consideration would be both the source and the destination addresses of the nodes. The port numbers would correspond to the well-know port numbers (Vacca, 2009). Packet filtering lets you control data transfer based on the address the data is, the address the data is going to, and the session and application protocols being used to transfer data. The main advantage of packet filtering is leverage. It allows you to provide, in a single place, particular protections for an entire network. Consider the Telnet service. If you disallow Telnet by turning off the Telnet server on all your hosts, you still have to worry about someone in your organization installing a new machine (or reinstalling an old one) with the Telnet server turned on. On the other hand if Telnet is not allowed by your filtering router, such a new machine would be protected right from the start, regardless of whether or not its Telnet server was actually running. Another advantage of a packet filtering router is that...

Mcbride Marketing Plan

...families and/or individuals purchasing recreational properties. The purpose of this paper is to outline a marketing plan that will enable McBride Financial Services to accomplish their mission through market analysis, research and web based advertising. As with any marketing plan you must know the best ways to attract customers. This goes hand-in-hand with understanding customer needs and what type of service they expect from the provider. Analyzing a customer’s interest and ability in taking on a mortgage is also a key component to present and future success. Interest can be accelerated through various incentive programs, rebates and other offers that should be focused on making the decision process for the customer as easy as possible. One method to truly understand a customer’s interest is by conducting surveys and soliciting feedback. This simple research method helps to focus on the actual needs, expectations and preferences of the customer while showing an interest in their concerns. Surveys can also help form targeted groups or communities so money and marketing is concentrated in areas that may produce the best results. These results can easily create external buyer interest that could evolve into a contagious buying environment. Another aspect of market research is finding...

...this course. I felt that I knew how to properly conduct research by just using a search engine to locate topics that were specific to what I was researching. This course has broaden my knowledge in researching   1) Developing a search strategy showed me how to organize my material and stay on topic. It also introduce me to key concepts which I have been using in my classes when studying and taking notes. Ironically I found using this method at work as well. Recently I found a solution to an ongoing network problem and my manager approached me asking me to fully research the resolution draft an email and send it out to the entire team.By using the search strategy I was able to gather the correct information that was needed to draft the email and send it to my team. 2)The Boolean operator AND OR NOT stuck in my head the most. I learned that this method is the main component to an effective statement and to broaden or narrow your search. When I use to search google without using the Boolean operator I always wondered why the search engine always gave me along list of searchs that didnt really relate to what I was looking up. By using this method I was able to get the exact results that I wanted and as I mention above this method was also used when I did my initial search statement for the email I sent to my colleagues on how to properly resolve the network issue. 3)Lastly the most important component of a research project is to cite the resources appropiately. Hmv’s Troubles Are Only the End of the Beginning

...HMV HMV’s troubles are only the end of the beginning (Guardian) Context Background Hmv was first established in 1921 and was the most dominant retailer in the music industry but now Hmv is facing its worst downfall in the music industry market due to crisis with the recession and structural changes in the media business. Hmv was known for its brand and was very popular with its sales and profits, consumers were satisfied with their products and price was something they were not really concerned about. Hmv’s competitors vary from a range of online music retailers as well as supermarket retailers, Woolworths and zavvi were the big threats to Hmv but collapsed due to the same problems which are now affecting Hmv. Online retailers have also been a big threat to Hmv as it all began in 1999 a software programme named ‘Napster’ had entered the market which enabled music file sharing from peers to peers. Music retailers such as HMV were threatened by this software programme as Napster offered over 700,000 songs for download at the cut price of just 99p. Thousands of high street record stores were affected by this as consumers preferred using Napster for its more efficient use and the price differentiation but napster did not remain a threat for long as it faced multiple law cases against the software and its illegal use of copyright labels. The market of music became more popular online as limewire; stereo-gum and apple iTunes has entered the music industry. Limewire...

...How to Be a Successful PhD Student (in Computer Science (in NLP/ML)) Mark Dredze (Johns Hopkins University) Hanna M. Wallach (University of Massachusetts Amherst) Version 1.0, March 20, 2012 Being a graduate student can be extremely rewarding and a lot of fun, but it’s also hard work. Like anything in life, there are ways to succeed and ways to fail. Hopefully, you will find a good support network that can help you learn what it takes to be a good graduate student. However, not everyone is able to find such a network, and it’s important to learn these lessons early. This guide was written based on our experiences as graduate students and our experiences advising graduate students, specifically, PhD students in NLP and machine learning; however, we hope many of the points are applicable to a wider audience. Where possible, we have indicated when advice is field-specific. Beyond that, the advice is listed in no particular order. No doubt there will be points with which you disagree. That’s totally fine -- there are certainly points about which even we had differing views; however, before you decide to ignore these points, it’s well worth taking the time to understand why we included them. Becoming a PhD Student Why Get a PhD? This question is dealt with extensively in other documents, so we will not discuss it in detail here; however, we want to emphasize the importance of asking this question. Getting a PhD will change your career path dramatically. Not only does getting...
