Research have shown the importance of oral language abilities in the development of decoding and comprehension. A number of studies found that children with ASD who have deficits in reading comprehension also have deficits in comprehending oral language (Williamson et al. 2012). However, no studies have examined whether or not oral language predicts reading comprehension in readers with HF-ASD (Diane et al., 2013). Previous research reported that there is a disjunction among decoding and reading comprehension among HFA children which appears superior skill in decoding accompanied by average or even inferior comprehension (hyperlexia) (Williams, 2006; Huemer & Mann, 2010; Diane et al. 2013). Further more, children with ASD have remarkable difficulties in Theory of Mind (ToM) skills. ToM refers to the ability to ascribe mental states to people and to explain and predict their behavior in terms of underlying mental states.
