Introduction:
In Argentina It is a season for religious celebrations as well as enjoyment of gatherings with family and friends. From Europe and America, the influences to the Christmas traditions of Argentina include the Christmas tree, red and white flowers, and the boots of Father Christmas. People even go to the extent of putting cotton on and around Christmas trees and the manger to simulate snow. The decorations on the Christmas tree are meant to produce a spectacular effect through candles or electric lights and other ornaments. Gifts surround the foot of the Christmas tree, while a figure of a star or Father Christmas is placed on top. Like Peru, Christmas dinner is served in Argentina on the night of December 24th. Silkwood Imc

...2. Executive summary • Two countries researched for potential market entry of Silkwood Wines, using macro-environmental (PEST) analysis, are Argentina and New Zealand. • Argentina is an attractive market for winemakers from ‘target-market’ point of view, but it is not a good time to commence exporting to this country. Unfavourable political and economic situation are the strongest factors that influence this decision. High physical, psychic, cultural and linguistic distances from Australia represent additional potential complications. • New Zealand on the other hand offers less opportunity for profits, but being physically, psychically, culturally and linguistically close to Australia, with a favourable applicable tariff rates and historically good relationship, it is a safe option. • American slightly positive GDP growth in the last quarter and some other latest statistics indicate that the worst times relating to world financial crisis is in the past. Nevertheless, world’s economists are prognosticating that long time is needed for full recovery. Some countries are still in recession and Argentina is battling hard to come out as a winner. Higher risks are associated with these hard times, thus a safer option is recommended. • Taking all this into consideration and the facts that Silkwood Wines are inexperienced in exporting and have limited human and financial resources, I recommend New Zealand as the best country for initial entry. With characteristics above described...

Mitchelton Wines

...Tourism Project Case Study: “Mitchelton Wines of the Nagambie Lakes” By: Jessica Chandra and Melissa Chandra Course Convenor: Russell Cox Tutor: Kelly Cassidy Tutorial: Wednesday, 11:00am to 12:00 pm EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Australia is growing to be one of the major wine producers in the global market. This is attributed to the following reasons: government support, international recognition and export demands, increasing domestic awareness and consumption of wine, development of local wine zones, regions and sub-regions and industry collaboration (Anderson, 2001; Beeston, 2002; Marsh and Shaw, 2000). Australia has become part of the ‘new world’ wine producers along with the United States, New Zealand, Chile and Argentina (Chang, Campbell and Sniekers, 2007). Looking closely into one of Australia’s region in Central Victoria, Nagambie is a small town, home to some of Victoria’s finest and historic wineries. With its increasing popularity as a tourist destination as well as quality vineyards, Nagambie has triggered government initiatives for the region’s development. The Mitchelton Wines, located in Nagambie along the beautiful Goulburn River. It is one of the leading wineries in Nagambie and is considered to be one of the most contemporary and yet historic wineries in Australia. However, since Nagambie is a small town and there are strong competition from more popular wine regions in Victoria, such as the Yarra Valley, Mitchelton lacks exposure...

The difficulty can be to identify: the environment diversity; the speed of change as managers feel that the pace of technological change and the speed of global communication change faster than even before; the last difficulty is complexity. Ferrero in order to face these difficulties can use different tools, such as: PESTEL (Political, Economical, Socio-Cultural, Technological, Environmental, Legal); Porter’s five forces; Market segmentation. In order to analyse: the macro-environment, competitors and market. (Johnson and Scholes, 2002, pp98). 2.1 Macro-Environment Macro-Environmental...

Aes Case Study

...GRADUATE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS STANFORD UNIVERSITY S HR-3 FEBRUARY 1997 HUMAN RESOURCES AT THE AES CORPORATION: THE CASE OF THE MISSING DEPARTMENT Dennis Bakke, the CEO of AES, a company that develops, builds and operates electric power plants, sat in his office late in 1996 and thought about the question that was perennially posed to him: could AES, soon to have some 25,000 people located literally all over the world following a recent purchase of power plants in Kazakhstan, continue to operate with virtually no staff functions and, specifically, without any human resource staff anywhere in the corporation? The absence of centralized staff — or, for that matter, much staff at all — had been one of the themes guiding the design and operation of the corporation since its founding. The company, in addition to having no personnel department, had no public relations, legal, environmental, or strategic planning departments. Its chief financial officer, Barry Sharp, saw his job not so much as running a centralized finance function but rather as helping all the AES employees as they made important decisions about financing and investments in a very capital intensive business. But the company was becoming much larger and increasingly geographically dispersed. Perhaps those early decisions needed to be rethought. Could what worked for so long continue to work as the corporation grew and operated increasingly on a global basis? Could the advantages of flexibility and having virtually...

Situational Analysis and Marketing Plan - Coke

...Situational Analysis and Marketing Plan: Coca-Cola Steve Lenart MKTG 730: Marketing Analysis Foundation (F14) I. History The Coca-Cola Company may be one of the world's most recognized companies and it all started back in 1886. Dr. John S. Pemberton was a pharmacist in Atlanta, Georgia. He created a “soft drink” that utilized flavored syrup combined with carbonated water (Coca Cola History, 2014). The first people that tried it considered it, “excellent.” Now that he knew he had a winning recipe, he needed a clever name. He was discussing names with his bookkeeper, Frank M. Robinson, when they came upon a breakthrough. The term Coca-Cola comes from two of the drink's ingredients. The recipe called for “coca” from the coca plant, and also used “kola” nuts. Just like that, the name of the product was born. Pemberton passed away in 1888, only two years after creating Coca-Cola. Before is death, he sold portions of his business to many parties and the majority of the business to Asa Candler. Mr. Candler was responsible for distributing the product beyond Atlanta, Georgia. Demand quickly grew, and a soda fountain owner is credited with first implementing a bottling system for Coca-Cola. The unique contoured bottle was trademarked in 1977. The company is still based out of Atlanta, Georgia, but by today's standards is an extremely large, multi-national conglomerate that has tremendous reach throughout the globe. It would be very foolish when discussing...

Winning the Sydney to Hobart- a Case Study in Project Management

...INTRODUCTION Campaigning for an ocean classic yacht race is a project. The campaign has a starting point, which can be defined, and the end of the race is the end of the project (1). It involves a process, which requires management if the objectives are to be defined and achieved. Unlike many other projects where success may be open to debate and achievement of objectives may be unclear this is a project in which project success or failure is as clear as the race results. As an interesting and atypical project type, it provides excellent opportunities to illustrate, examine, and question the application and operation of the project management framework. The project was successful. The objectives were achieved; the races were won. This paper will briefly present, as a project, the campaign, which culminated in the winning of both the 1992 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and the 1992 Kodak Asia Pacific Ocean Racing Championship. The phases of the project life-cycle-concept, development, execution, and finishing (2); the four basic project management functions-management of scope, quality, time, and cost; and the other essential project management functions-human resource management, communications management, contract/procurement management, and risk management-will be discussed in relation to the project. As a case study, a project management framework is applied to the project, in retrospect. Many project managers tackle their tasks without conscious reference to the various...
