...Research Strategy Paper GEN200 August 2, 2010 Valencia Strickland-Mills Research Strategy Paper My life is filled with the every day challenge of balancing work, school, and my family. Every day I wake up and have to complete numerous jobs that are very overwhelming. I have to get my first child off to school, the second child to daycare, go to work for an eight-hour shift, pick my children up and tend to the household chores such as dinner, laundry, bathing, and cleaning. Once all of the family needs are taken care of I can then switch to my schoolwork before going to bed. I then have to get up the next day and do it all over again. I need to find a way to get everything accomplished without feeling overwhelmed all of the time. To help me with my day-to-day problems, I will need information on time management strategies and even some relaxation techniques. I can find information on how to accomplish this at the library with self help books or by visiting websites such as: www.helpguide.org or www.mayoclinic.com. When I research on the Internet, I look for websites that contain up-to-date information and come from trusted sources such as professors or doctors. Feeling overwhelmed is best dealt with by relaxation and learning to relax is something that a doctor will have plenty of knowledge and experience in. Time management is something that professors would have a great deal of experience in. I will find an article that has been written by...

...Research Strategy Paper Bethany Kittrick GEN/200 November 15, 2010 Annette Tanori Research Strategy Paper Stress! What is stress? You could ask dozens of people that question and you would get dozens of different answers. Everyone has a different reason for being stressed out and they all have different ways of working through it. There is no true way of defining stress because it has so many different meaning to everyone. To me stress is something I deal with in my day-to-day life. Whether it is because of my home life, trying to write a paper, paying bills, or something as little as doing the dishes. To somebody else, stress could be because of the people at work, or just work itself, wrong instructions, or even phone calls. Dealing with stress is something we all deal with differently but we all have to do it and some do it better then others. The information I am going to obtain about stress is how to reduce it in my day-to-day life, also what I can do to help maintain my stress levels so it does not have an effect on my mental and physical health. All of this information can come from many different areas. The American Institute of Stress at www.stress.org has a lot of useful information that can be used to help solve this problem. The AIS (American Institute of Stress) has given many different ways of relieving and reducing stress such as listening to music, yoga, hobbies, friends and family, or keeping a daily journal of events and how you feel are powerful...

...Research Strategy Paper Gen/200 September 27, 2010 University of Phoenix Instructor David Kuntz Abstract In this paper I will cover a day-to-day problem I am looking to solve in my life. My problem that I am attempting to solve in this paper is why am I single and not able to find a meaningful relationship? With this stated problem I will briefly explain the dilemma and identify what type of information I should gather to help me solve this problem as well as reveal where the information was obtained. I will share the process I used to evaluate all gathered information and how I used the information to help resolve my issue and the consideration I took. Also being shared will be what was learned from the process of resolving this problem. Research Strategy Paper Change is good, especially when it is for the better. As I grown older I like to think and know I have grown in many areas of my life. I think one of the keys to life and success is to always find a challenge and refine ones goals and commitments in life as we push ourselves to unfamiliar terrain in the quest to improve ourselves. Therefore I am in that process of refining and changing some more things in my life one being my current marital/relationship status. I can remember since I discovered girls or women because we are adults now, I have never had a problem talking to them or having the woman I wanted. I always have had what some refer to as the gift of gab when it comes to speaking to women. Add to...

...Research and Strategy The biggest problem that I face in my day-to-day life is the extreme distaste for my current job. Working as a waitress is a constant source of stress in my life. I do not make enough money to support myself, and I don’t believe I am valued or respected by the management. I have already taken the initial steps toward a new career by attending college for a Bachelor’s degree, however, while I am taking courses I need to find another occupation. First, I need to revise my resume so that it stands out among the other applicants. Websites, such as Monster.com, have tutorials and instructions on how to write exceptional resumes and cover letters. They also save the finished product which makes it easier for me to apply to several jobs with just a few clicks. Next, I will attend job fairs in addition to searching online and looking at classified ads in the paper. Lastly, I will prepare myself for the interviewing process by researching what types of questions I will be asked and the best ways to answer them. Because interviews give me anxiety, I will research ways to cope with my fears and aid in a more successful job interview. I searched both the school library and online for information on how to write a resume, who is hiring, and how to be an excellent interviewee. Then I made sure that my sources of information were up-to-date. I also made sure that they were valid by researching the author and comparing the information with the other sources. When...

...Research Strategy Paper My main problem is procrastination. It’s very hard for me to get started on a task. I will usually find anything to avoid the situation. My procrastination gets so bad that it also effects my time management. I can actually remember when I was in high school getting to school on time, was a task in its self. When my alarm went off a t 6:45 in the morning I would reset it until 7:00. Then I would get out of bed go into the bathroom until about 7:20. When I came out I would turn on the television and slowly get dressed. At about 7:45 I would then sit down to eat breakfast. By now its 8:10 or 8:15 I would start walking to the bus stop. Nine times out of ten I would miss the 8:20 bus. Now I have to wait until 8:30, at 8:30 I’m officially late for first period. Its 8:45 and I have to catch another bus; I would ride like two miles to school from there. As I’m riding to school I keep thinking how in the world I get up at 6:45 in the morning and still be late for class. One time I sat down and realized that I procrastinate from the time I wake up in the morning until I go to sleep at night. As I’m sitting here at the computer typing my paper I am doing other things and I didn’t even realize it. Now that I’m taking my time seriously I’ve had reason to find different ways to understand and minimize procrastination. I personally know that stopping procrastination will not happen overnight it takes time and patience. Something a procrastinator has to work on. I...

...Abstract According to the definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, stress is defined as a physical, chemical, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension and may be a factor in disease causation. More than two-thirds of Americans are willing to look for help with stress management (APA Survey 2004). What are the major sources of stress and the ultimate techniques to help reduce one’s stress level? The study by Ross, Shannon and colleagues in 1999 helped bring better understanding about sources of stress among 100 students at a Midwestern university and hoped to be the first step for creating stress management programs appropriate for college students. College students face many attributes that would cause one to become stressed. Not only will they need to adapt to their new surroundings, fellow students, and professors, but also realizing that they are now out of their comfort zone. A student going to an out-of-state university, leaving behind friends and families is a stressor for students. Class schedules and assignments to be completed and turned into to the professor for grading is not what some students are accustomed to when in high school. The unfamiliar school setting that a student is familiar with is now just part of their past. They are now in entering the world of adulthood. Better Understanding of Stress According to the American Psychological Association Survey 2004, two-thirds of the adults in America are more likely to...

...Abstract A frequent problem at home is time management. With the tips and tricks detailed in this paper a more productive and stress-free life can be achieved. I find that prioritizing helps immensely. Obtaining the largest/most important task out of the way helps free the mind and gives an encouraging sense of accomplishment. It also makes those endless little tasks seem less annoying as they are being ticked off. Learning how to manage time will not buy more time, but it will ultimately give more time to spend on want to do versus what needs to be done. In 1968, singer Judi Collins recorded the Sandy Denny song, "Who Knows Where the Time Goes". During the pixilated Flower Power era time management was of little importance, but in today's society time is an important commodity in the workplace and for students in school or college as well as at home (Time Management Help, 2005). Tips and Tricks on Time Management One of the biggest problems I face at home is Time Management. I have five cats and a son who contend for my time. I also have house-work, laundry, and schoolwork to take up most of my time. I try to give each object an equal amount of time, but sometimes it is rather difficult. I would start cleaning and forget about everything else, or I spend a majority of my time on schoolwork and later I am too tired to do any cleaning. One way I have found that helps with my time management skills is making a to-do list. I make up a schedule with time slots and write...

...The Importance of Values in Retail Management Gen 200 The Importance of Values in Retail Management Retail is a thriving business in the world today. The retail industry, like any business, has employees from various cultures and backgrounds. Retail also deals with customers and vendors from several different backgrounds. To be a manager in retail someone must not only have business knowledge, but also have good values. Managers should have values such as integrity, leadership, professionalism, teamwork, and decisiveness. Having these values will make any manager successful. Integrity is an important value to being a good manager. “Integrity-following the spirit as well as the letter of the law and avoiding schemes that take advantage of ‘ignorance or gullibility’ in others” (Post & Post, 2005, pp. 10). No one will want to work for a manager that does not have integrity. It is not only a value we want within ourselves, but what others look for in a good manager. In retail, managers handle confidential information and some deal with money on a daily basis. If managers lack this value they would be easily tempted to give the information to competitors or the temptation to take money. This could also affect the manager’s ability to be fair as their decisions might be based on favoritism or inappropriate factors. In history, even the perception of a lack of integrity has harmed leaders. In May 1972, President Richard Nixon’s popularity was 62%, but after his resignation...
