November 16, 2012 Friday This is the day 1 of my On-The-Job Training. I just don’t have any idea at all; I don’t know what I’m going to be or which department I should assign so thank god we start at orientation. We talked about the company, policies and some other important details then our HM supervisor take me to my department, which is Dispatch Service Department, I don’t have any idea if what is going on in this department until my supervisor orient me about my task and this I meet and started to meet the Call Reports which is assigned to me for the rest of my training. My day have been so well and just exceeded my working hours.

November 19-23, 2012 (Monday-Friday) This week I’m sorting Call Reports specifically the CM or the Corrective Maintenance, from the month of October sorting from 1st of October from the end of the month. I arranged it from banks to banks for it to be organized. I just had light duties by this time, I observed the call reports and notice that diebold has a lot of client, offering good services, offering products such as ATM, software and many more. Diebold Philippines Incorporation is a very huge company it has many branches in different part of the world. This ECE Company which is vision is to fulfill and exceed the customer expectations. The facilities and policies is just suit for the employee and to the firm. This office environment is just good for the working people. By the end of this week, I’m still adjusting myself for a new environment; this week was exhausted and very tiring for me. It’s like I already feel being a working person that all you want is to take a rest and sleep all day but I can say that I enjoyed being here, it’s like new life that I need to face all by myself.

November 26-29, 2012 (Monday-Thusday) Last week of november and my second week on my training. Still doing my stuff sorting of corrective maintenance finishing call reports the month of October to November. By this time I learned how to fax, and go to the different departments here in the office. My Supervisor assigned task for me this week is signing the quotation of banks to the logistics and accounting but first is to photocopy it and give it to logistics the other copy is for our receiving copy then proceed to accounting department for signing then fax it to assigned banks so that its, that’s how it goes . Just a few observations in our working place, people here is so loud and they’re not close that much and I think the reason is they’re not in the same ages but they’re cool somehow. So I have 2 mates from bulacan state university, my co-ojt, eating lunch with them but we’re not close, I mean yes they’re like my buddy but we talked seldom so I don’t find them call but they’re good it is just our personality didn’t yet match. My adjustment to my new environment is kind of fast, except for waking up early because that’s the thing I hate the most especially if I’m locked of sleep. I don’t have choice but to wake up early because I have my responsibilities as a student. It’s really a big help for me especially in time management but there’s a harder part from waking up early, I missed school, I missed seeing my friends, I missed someone with me sometimes it makes me sad. And just realized that adjusting yourself to new environment is easy but yourself to what you get used to is so hard.

December 3- 7, 2012 (Monday-Friday) Christmas is just around the corner. This week is better than my last week because I think I’d fully adjusted in my environment. People knew me, they’re saying Hi, Good Morning, getting updates, keeping in touch and I just feel a warmed welcome. I just noticed that people here love to eat, like every hour? So if there’s any food it will be share to everyone. While during our lunch break me and my co- ojt really don’t know where to eat because around us are all fast food chain which we already eaten like for nth times, so we decided that maybe sometimes we pack our lunch and have our lunch at the pantry with the workers in the office. This is task is to file CM reports in the arlos, arranged it bank by bank, month and its ascending date, used puncher for it to be filed completed. My whole day spends for filing and some paper signing, photocopy and fax. People in the department became my boss, they’re asking me to do this, look for it, writing reports and etc. In this week I’ve finished 25 arlos, Imagine? Actually can’t believe I’ve finish that all but thank god I did and everybody like wow because I finish lots of SR to be filed. I’m happy indeed it feels like a good job well done

December 10- 14, 2012 (Monday-Friday) Everybody seemed very busy to prepare for the Christmas party. Every department must have a Christmas presentation whether dance, sing or video presentation. Everyone is happily talked about what they’re going to wear or how about their hair; you’ll see in them the excitement because on the Saturday that will be they’re party that will be held at Vikings MOA. Our department presentation is the gangnam style video presentation; it is like a Music Video. So my participation here is to ramp and a bit of dance, they keep on saying “oh Trizh pag narinig mo na yung hey sexy lady tsaka ka na lalabas ah tapos freestyle na” and it’s really making me laugh like HA HA HA so thank god we finished the presentation that all of us are laughing and doing our crazy thing but sad I didn’t come to the party because we have family gathering so sad not able to watch and laugh with them while watching our presentation. Well this week was my exhausted week because aside from preparing our presentation I have lots of things to do for signing, naming of folders, filing agreements to each banks, photocopy of confidential papers, fax and submit the November call reports to the logistics. Filing lots of Preventive Maintenance, encoding data and doing user manuals. I look so wasted and don’t have time for myself but still GOD is always good, I did my entire task on time hooray for me

December 17-21 2012 (Monday- Friday) I can’t explain what I’m feeling right now like OMG! I’m just so excited to end this week because finally I will get my Christmas break, promise my heart is full of joy and I am so inspired to finish my work as much fast as I can. Everyone here is excited for their long vacation like me, this week is so happy for all of us. Wednesday, I’m wondering why everyone is talking about a party that will happen here like seriously? So yes, there will be a party on the December 21 Friday, a children party for the children’s of the entire employee here. I was so amazed for knowing this and they’re doing it for years ago, ow so thoughtful of diebold, parent and child bonding. Same old task assigned to me, this week is so ‘petix’ to me because I finished my work last week so now I’m just relax. TGIF yes Thank God Its Friday and T.G.I Fridays our caterer for this party. The party started 4pm kids are here, such a cutie. They’re having parlor games, giving gifts and lots of balloon so everybody is so happy. It’s like were all having a long break and that break are for fun. All the big bosses are in even live band are present and of course the foods that everyone’s waiting for haha. We had a wine, foods and bonding. This is indeed good; everybody is happy and ready for Christmas. This day I go home happy with my keso de bola from office and of course my Christmas break my boss allow me to not attend the rest of the days in this year. Hooray! Merry Christmas. Goodbye to my year 2012 at Diebold, it was fun

January 2-4 2013 (Wednesday- Friday) This is it! Happy New Year. Positivity this year. Its relax day for me, task assigned was for signing and fax only. Thank god because I’m just came here from bicol. Tadaaa! Its 3. The most important day of my life. My Birthday First time to celebrate, I mean no celebration because I need to do my responsibilities. I feel so loved, first of all my tita gave me money, my dispatch team family really touched my heart, they’re always inspires me, they’re make me feel the I’m so beautiful, it makes my heart big and make me more inspire When I came in, they’re all giving good feedback about how I look but they’re don’t know that this precious day is my birthday until I approach my lovely supervisor and ask what their want for dessert, that’s she only knew that this day is my birthday and Mam Jovi one of the employee here immediately grab me because she want to fix my hair, she said that she wants me to be more beautiful, so she curl my hair and I feel so gorgeous. Had our lunch with my co-ojt treated them for lunch and get some ice creams for the office so we had it, so happy they’re all greeted me. But before this important day ends, my friends from adamson had a little surprise dinner at the greenbelt I feel so really loved with a teary eyes and when were in the restaurant all of the crews sang me a song with a cutie cake with candle, I really amazed with this. And one thing just saw some celebrities there. I got Home with a happy heart and a big smile.

January 7-11 2013 (Wednesday- Friday) Second week of the year, counting for my remaining days here at Diebold. Had my new hair look. New year for a new me. Better and More responsible me, I get used for being alone because of this training but for me this really helped me. Nothing new with the cycle in this environment except to my new working station and to my new task and that is sorting PM, preventive maintenance, filing it based on their Report number and equipment number its very crucial and it will make you hilo. This week Sir Mike the Manager borrowed me to do something about the liquidity, reinvestment and some confidential papers. While doing the files mam will ask me this for signing, then photo copy then fax. Nothing new its just the ask is coming one by one and sometimes one big strike.

January 14-18, 2013 (Monday- Friday) Its just the same with my last week, sorting PM by series number and arrange it by their report number and equipment serial. Signing and Fax just like the old times but more relax this week because my supervisor is not allowed for 2 days.

January 21-25, 2013 (Monday – Friday) This week was haggard and exhausted to me; because I need to go to school after my office work and I just had a half day. The first day of this week is ‘ngarag day’ for me, had a photocopy of papers like 400 copies I guess? Then my usual task, signing and fax then write in on the board, Manic Monday, just had my half day at the office because I need to go to school for meeting for our new proposal and need to meet my group mates in thesis for the division of the task for documentation because we only have few days to prepare for our preliminary defense. While my office works are still there, I started to sort the CMs for the month of November not only that even PMs. This SRs giving me headache because there are so many like massive so I can’t even think where do I put all of this its like a trash on my table. Should I say a trash with the table? Its really disgusting because I had one absent for this week and when I came back boom my entire table is consist of SRs or call reports that waiting for me to short and file them. But meanwhile one of my supervisors inviting me for a party because I’m the only one who is close to her but no I need to concentrate to my obligations, we really need to pass in the preliminary defense. I was like dead tired like I wanna sleep all day long BUT there is always a big BUT. Well this is the reality world atleast I got idea of how life is going when after of years studying. This environment is just the same to the moment I start staying here, I still shy to be with them. But there are people here that having some trouble or just misunderstanding they keep on talking about this miss at her back. I don’t know and I think I don’t care, I don’t mind their business because the important is I’m doing my job/task so well. TGIF. Classes tomorrow, some thesis and Sunday is our defense. Busy week indeed so help us god

__________________ Marites C. Paringit Supervisor January 28 – February 1, 2013 (Monday-Friday) The day after our preliminary defense, I feel so down and just want to rest and sleep all day long. I’m late and my stuffs are waiting for me. Nothing unusual happens to my environment. PS department ask me look for the SR, BDO for shortages, first thing comes to my mind is why is this important or something because they keep it, file it and separate to others, and I just knew that this shortages are important because it is the problem of some of the ATMs the money from it is short. So I started to look for it and check the dates, cash in and cash outs. The second day until to the last day of this week is for Preventive maintenance(PM) sorting all of the PM for the 4th (Fourth) quarter so its like I’m going sort PM for 3(three) months from LBP, BDO, BPI, BOC, DBP and a lot more. The 3rd (third) day of this week my supervisor and I finish the quotation for pending services for some banks some of these quotations are December to January so I need to look for the CM and attached it cause we need it to submit to the accounting department. And of course there were still for signing, photocopy, fax and write the pending service to the board. The next day was for PM and I guess for the rest of my remaining days here cause arlos are there I need the PM and CM to be filed there its for the month of December and November and we had a big merienda cause our sales department just closed a 7M deal with DBP yea cheers . Hello February 3 more weeks for my training need to finish all my works so I can leave happy here.

...The Research Process Writers usually treat the research task as a sequential process involving several clearly defined steps. No one claims that research requires completion of each step before going to the next. Recycling, circumventing, and skipping occur. Some steps are begun out of sequence, some are carried out simultaneously, and some may be omitted. Despite these variations, the idea of a sequence is useful for developing a project and for keeping the project orderly as it unfolds. Exhibit 3–1 models the sequence of the research process. We refer to it often as we discuss each step in subsequent chapters. Our discussion of the questions that guide project planning and data gathering is incorporated into the model (see the elements within the pyramid in Exhibit 3–1 and compare them with Exhibit 3–2). Exhibit 3–1 also organizes this chapter and introduces the remainder of the book. The research process begins much as the vignette suggests. A management dilemma triggers the need for a decision. For MindWriter, a growing number of complaints about postpurchase service started the process. In other situations, a controversy arises, a major commitment of resources is called for, or conditions in the environment signal the need for a decision. For MindWriter, the critical event could have been the introduction by a competitor of new technology that would revolutionize the processing speed of laptops. Such events cause managers to reconsider their purposes or...

...Myresearch About 30 million other animals. Animal experimentation by scientists can be cruel and unjust, but at the same time it can provide long term benefits for humanity. Animals used in research and experiments have been going on for 2,000 years and keep is going strong. It is a widely debated about topic all over the world. Some say it is inhuman while others say it's for the good of human kind. There are many different reasons why people perform experiments and why others total disagree with it. Each year 20 million animals are produce and breed for the only purpose but to be tested on. Fifty-three thousands of animals are used each year in medical and veterinary schools. The rest is used in basic research. The demand for animals in the United States is 50 million mice, 20 million rats, and aThis includes 200,000 cats and 450,000 dogs. The world uses about 200-250 million animals per year. The problem with working with animals is that they cannot communicate their feelings and reactions. Other people say that they can communicate and react to humans just a well as one person to another. Some of the animals the research's use are not domesticated which makes them extremely hard to control and handle. The experiments that go on behind closed doors are some of the most horrific things a human could think of too torture somebody or something. Animals in labs are literally used as models and are poked at and cut open like nothing is happening. When drug are tested on animals...

...Research Research is a systematic inquiry to describe, explain, predict and control the observed phenomenon. Research involves inductive and deductive methods (Babbie, 1998). Inductive methods analyze the observed phenomenon and identify the general principles, structures, or processes underlying the phenomenon observed; deductive methods verify the hypothesized principles through observations. The purposes are different: one is to develop explanations, and the other is to test the validity of the explanations. One thing that we have to pay attention to research is that the heart of the research is not on statistics, but the thinking behind the research. How we really want to find out, how we build arguments about ideas and concepts, and what evidence that we can support to persuade people to accept our arguments. Gall, Borg and Gall (1996) proposed four types of knowledge that research contributed to education as follows: 1. Description: Results of research can describe natural or social phenomenon, such as its form, structure, activity, change over time, relationship to other phenomena. The descriptive function of research relies on instrumentation for measurement and observations. The descriptive research results in our understanding of what happened. It sometimes produces statistical information about aspects of education. 2. Prediction: Prediction research is intended to predict a phenomenon that will occur at time Y from information at an earlier time X. In educational...

...STEP 1etasblish the need for research We have to consider if it is a real need for doing a research? Research takes time and costs money. If the information is already available, decisions must be made now, we cant afford research and costs outweigh the value of the research, then the research is not needed. Step 2 define the problem or topic State your topic as a question. This is the most important step. Identify the main concepts or keywords in your question. Problem maybe either specific or general. Step 3 establish research objective Research objectives, when achieved, provide the Information necessary to solve the problem identified in Step 2. Research objectives state what the researchers must do. Crystallize the research problems and translate them into research objective. At this point, we will pin down the research question. Step 4 determine research design The research design is a plan or framework for conducting the study and collecting data. It is defined as the specific methods and procedures you use to acquire the information you need. based on the research objectives, we will determine the most appropriate research design: qualitative and/ or quantitative. • Exploratory Research: collecting information in an unstructured and informal manner. • Descriptive Research refers to a set of methods and procedures describing marketing variables. • Causal Research (experiments): allows isolation of causes and...

...Research Article Research is important to every business because of the information it provides. There is a basic process to researching information and that process begins by deciding what information needs to be researched. The next step is to develop a hypothesis, which describes what the research paper is about and what the researcher’s opinion is regarding the topic. The research article chosen for this paper is titled, “The Anchor Contraction Effect in International Marketing Research.” The hypothesis for this paper is, “This raises the issue of whether providing responses on rating scales in a person’s native versus second language exerts a systematic influence on the responses obtained.” Simply explained, the hypothesis of this paper is to determine whether research questions should be in a person’s native language rather than expecting them to respond to questions in a language in which they might not be fluent. The hypothesis of this paper was accepted based on the research data gathered by the research team. This hypothesis was supported by nine studies using a variety of research methods. The research methods provided data that demonstrated the level of inaccuracy based on questions being asked in a language that was not the respondent’s native language. The research data provided insight into the probability of more accurate results when the respondent was asked questions in a manner that related well with their culture. There are several implications...

...ACE8001: What do we mean by Research? & Can we hope to do genuine Social Science Research (David Harvey)  What do we mean by research? What might characterise good research practice? There is no point in us trying to re-invent the wheel - other and probably more capable people than us have wrestled with this problem before us, and it makes good sense and is good practice to learn what they have discovered.  In other words - we need to explore more reliable and effective methods and systems for the pursuit of research than we have been doing so far. What is research? Dictionary Definitions of Research: * "The act of searching closely or carefully for or after a specified thing or person" * "An investigation directed to discovery of some fact by careful study of a subject" * "A course of scientific enquiry" (where scientific = "producing demonstrative knowledge") Howard and Sharp (HS) define research as:  "seeking through methodical processes to add to bodies of knowledge by the discovery or elucidation of non-trivial facts, insights and improved understanding of situations, processes and mechanisms".  [Howard, K. and Sharp, J.A. The Management of a student research project, Gower, 1983 - a useful and practical “how to do it” guide] Two other, more recent guides are: Denscombe, Martyn, 2002, Ground rules for good research: a 10 point guide for social research,  Open University Press. ...solve analytic models or whatever, but they often fail to demonstrate that they have thoroughly thought about their papers—in other words, when you push them about the implicit and explicit assumptions and implications of their research models, it appears that they haven’t really given these matters much thought at all.[1] Too often they fall back on saying that they are doing what they are doing because that is the way it is done in the prior literature, which is more of an excuse than a answer. (Of course, once a researcher reaches a certain age, they all feel that youngsters aren’t as good as they were in the good old days!) Therefore, in this class we shall go beyond simply studying research in managerial accounting. For many of you, this is your first introduction to accounting research and to PhD level class. Hence, in these classes we shall also learn how to solve business problems systematically and to understand what it means to have thoroughly “thought through” a paper. We begin not with academic research, but with some real world cases, because we should never forget that ours is an applied research field: accounting research is a means towards the end of understanding business and is not an end in itself, in the way pure science research is. Developing a systematic procedure for solving a real world business problem is the starting point for developing a...

...manger know about research when the job entails managing people, products, events, environments, and the like? Answer: Research simply means a search for facts – answers to questions and solutions to problems. It is a purposive investigation. It is an organized inquiry. It seeks to find explanations to unexplained phenomenon to clarify the doubtful facts and to correct the misconceived facts. Research is the organized and systematic inquiry or investigation which provides information for solving a problem or finding answers to a complex issue. Research in business: Often, organization members want to know everything about their products, services, programs, etc. Your research plans depend on what information you need to collect in order to make major decisions about a product, service, program, etc. Research provides the needed information that guides managers to make informed decisions to successfully deal with problems. The more focused you are about your resources, products, events and environments what you want to gain by your research, the more effective and efficient you can be in your research, the shorter the time it will take you and ultimately the less it will cost you. Manager’s role in research programs of a company: Managing people is only a fraction of a manager's responsibility - they have to manage the operations of the department, and often have responsibilities towards the profitability of the organization. Knowledge of research can be very helpful...

...goal of the research process is to produce new knowledge or deepen understanding of a topic or issue. This process takes three main forms (although, as previously discussed, the boundaries between them may be obscure): * Exploratory research, which helps identify and define a problem or question. * Constructive research, which tests theories and proposes solutions to a problem or question. * Empirical research, which tests the feasibility of a solution using empirical evidence. There are two ways to conduct research: Primary research Using primary sources, i.e., original documents and data. Secondary research Using secondary sources, i.e., a synthesis of, interpretation of, or discussions about primary sources. There are two major research designs: qualitative research and quantitative research. Researchers choose one of these two tracks according to the nature of the research problem they want to observe and the research questions they aim to answer: Qualitative research Understanding of human behavior and the reasons that govern such behavior. Asking a broad question and collecting word-type data that is analyzed searching for themes. This type of research looks to describe a population without attempting to quantifiably measure variables or look to potential relationships between variables. It is viewed as more restrictive in testing hypotheses because it can be expensive and time consuming, and typically limited to a single set of research subjects. Qualitative...

...How To Formulate Research Problem? Posted in Research Methodology | Email This Post Email This Post Formulating the research problem and hypothesis acts as a major step or phase in the research methodology. In research, the foremost step that comes into play is that of defining the research problem and it becomes almost a necessity to have the basic knowledge and understanding of most of its elements as this would help a lot in making a correct decision. The research problem can be said to be complete only if it is able to specify about the unit of analysis, time and space boundaries, features that are under study, specific environmental conditions that are present in addition to prerequisite of the research process. Research Process Research process is very commonly referred to as the planning process. One important point to be kept in mind here is to understand that the main aim of the research process is that of improving the knowledge of the human beings. The research process consists of the following stages – 1. The Primary stage :– This stage includes – a. Observation – The first step in the research process is that of the observation, research work starts with the observation which can be either unaided visual observation or guided and controlled observation. It can be said that an observation leads to research, the results obtained from research result in final observations which can play a crucial part in carrying out further research.
