Paul Bogard persuades his audience that natural darkness should be preserved by building an argument using facts and examples, reasoning and persuasive elements.
When Bogard in paragraph 3 claims that “our bodies need darkness for sleep.” he explains that without darkness we have less quality sleep or “short sleep” which is caused by “long light” this has been known to cause sleeping disorders. These examples he further backs up with the fact that the sleeping disorders are one of the causes of many physical issues such as diabetes, obesity and depression.
