Being apart from someone you love is hard, but not impossible. Perry Patetic in his excerpt, “Fast-Moving Society”, argues that a fast moving society is causing relationships to drift apart and lose communication with one another. The author supports his argument by providing examples of obstacles faced due to different methods of transportation. The author’s purpose is to persuade his audience to believe that transportation has made it easier for some to move away from loved one’s and eventually drift apart. The author establishes a heartfelt tone for all of today’s society. To make up for lost time, we facetime each other every night to keep our relationship strong. When spending a lot of time with someone, people tend to take it for granted. Distance helps people appreciate the short time that can be spent with one another. For example, all my family lives in Hawaii and I only get to see them once a year. Those four weeks of my life are the most memorable, special, days of life because it is spent with people I rarely get to see because of the distance. Technology and special, quality time is what keeps relationships strong no matter what the distance is.
