...Act 101(Going Concern) 'Definition of the 'going concern' concept The 'going concern' concept directs accountants to prepare financial statements on the assumption that the business is not about to go broke or be liquidated (i.e. where the business closes and sells all the assets for whatever price they can get). So, unless there is significant evidence to the contrary, accountants will base their valuations and their reporting of financial data on the assumption that the business will remain in existence for an indefinite period. An indefinite period means the foreseeable future or long enough for the business to meet its objectives and to fulfill its commitments. It is important to note that the 'going concern' concept does not imply or guarantee that the business is profitable and will remain so for the foreseeable future. So, the 'going concern' concept assumes that the business will remain in existence long enough for all the assets of the business to be fully utilized. Utilized assets means obtaining the complete benefit from their earning potential. (i.e. if you recently purchased equipment costing $5,000 that had 5 years of productive/useful life, then under the going concern assumption, the accountant would only write off one year's value $1,000 (1/5th) this year, leaving $4,000 to be treated as a fixed asset with future economic value for the business). The 'going concern' concept supports the assumption that when a business buys assets like land, equipment...

...Introduction The current world is following strategies to exit from energy crisis. In Bangladesh changing the vehicle fuel to the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is the priority enforcement. Recently, the number of CNG fuel based vehicles in Bangladesh is growing rapidly due to low price and availability of CNG. This change needs some planned substructures. One of the most important substructures is the CNG refueling stations distributions. Necessity of making a systematic process to locate CNG stations is vital because at present there is no fixed system to locate CNG stations throughout the country. Waiting or queuing is a common phenomenon in service organization like CNG filling stations. In general, the vehicles do not like to wait in the filling station. But reduction of the waiting time usually requires extra investment. To decide whether or not to invest, it is important to know the performance of the existing distribution system. So we need models and techniques to analyze such situations. Though the queuing analysis is performed in different hospitals and dental clinics in Bangladesh but first time this research treats single server queuing system to analyze the performance of the existing CNG refueling stations. Our attention is restricted to models with single queue and single server. The results find that there is an unplanned location of CNG filling stations in two intercity networks and suggest the optimum number of CNG refueling stations in that intercity network...

...There Is No Such Thing as Rest By: Tina Baker Slavery in some ways is still around even today. When we hire a maid, butler, or a chauffeur in some ways is still slavery. They have to work for us for a certain amount of money, and cook, clean raise our kids, and do the grocery shopping. So really slavery isn’t abolished. Slavery in America began when the first African slaves were brought to the North American colony of Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619, to aid in the production of such lucrative crops as tobacco. Slavery was practiced throughout the American colonies in the 17th and 18th centuries, and African-American slaves helped build the economic foundations of the new nation. The invention of the cotton gin in 1793 solidified the central importance of slavery to the South's economy. By the mid-19th century, America's westward expansion, along with a growing abolition movement in the North, would provoke a great debate over slavery that would tear the nation apart in the bloody American Civil War (1861-65). Though the Union victory freed the nation's 4 million slaves, the legacy of slavery continued to influence American history, from the tumultuous years of Reconstruction (1865-77) to the civil rights movement that emerged in the 1960s, a century after emancipation. The old slave owners used to use their christianity as a way to justify the way they treated their slaves saying "god told them to do the things they did". Society views slavery as wrong, now that it is illegal...

...Change Our Lives Kevin M. Davis Strayer University ENG 090 Writing Fundamental Ms Monica McGoldrick January 12, 2011 When I was a senior in high school, football was my life. I consider myself to be a pretty good defensive player. Georgia Southern College had just opened up their new football program and I wanted to attend there as well as play football for them. However, I did not know the application process of applying to Georgia Southern College or any other higher institution of learning. Instead of me asking for help via my high school counselor, football coach, or my parents, I never pursued my Dream of going to college or playing college football. Therefore, college plans took a backseat in my life and job hunting became my priority after graduating from high school. As I began my job search, my neighborhood peers always talked about pursuing employment as a Longshoreman located at the Georgia Ports Authority in Savannah, Ga. Becoming a Longshoreman was known to many of us in my neighborhood as a good paying job with benefits such as medical/dental insurance, union association protection, workmen’s compensation, etc. I was then sold on becoming a Longshoreman until one day; my father came home and spoke with me about college again. He stated he knew a Lieutenant Colonel at Fort Valley State College who was the head instructor over the ROTC program. My father explained to me the application process of completing the college’s application and returning it to...

...Grandma, only God knows how much we really miss you. We will never forget your love, smile, laughter, cooking, wisdom and sense of humor. Or the days when you were an active Grandma, the kind that got up, and went outside, played ball, badminton and jumped rope with us. You took care of us even when you were sick and always slipped us some change ($20 bills) on the sly when our parents turned their heads. You also always had some type of gravy going on - tuna fish gravy, tomato gravy, chipped beef gravy, turkey gravy... anything you could serve over toast....and it was sooo good! And we definitely won't forget your fried apples, onions and potatoes as staple dishes on Sunday mornings before Church! You were a fun Grandma, always full of life! You led by example all the way til the end. Even dementia had no power over you. At times, you may have forgotten who we were in those last hours but you never forgot the Word of God! In fact, we recognize that it was the only consistency in your world. It was a reminder that once the Word is in you - it never leaves you and we are so thankful that God chose us to be the recipients of such a remarkable matriarch for our family. Grandma, we truly mean it when we say that you were one of God's best gifts to us. You will always be a special part of our lives. We thank you for being a mentor, a confidant and also a friend. But the most important thing you taught us was how to love God and be an unconditional, consistent servant of the...
