...Exist Professor March 16, 2015 Research and Writing Should Cell Phones be Ban from Driving or Do Away With? Over the last few years, there has been an up rise in car accidents and the probable cause is the use of cell phones. At one point drunk driving was the biggest cause of car accidents but now cell phone users are at risk as well. In some states across America, a law was made to ban cell phone use while driving but what about the other states. The probability of drivers talking on the cell phone and getting into accidents is only getting higher. The Government should ban cell phone use while driving in all states. In the past five years, cell phone use while driving has become the next biggest problem for the government to handle. Even though some government officials feel it is not causing that much of a problem. In a recent study done at the turn of the century by Robert W. Hahn and Paul C. Tetlock, cell phone use in cars will have caused about 10,000 serious accidents that year, leading to 100 fatalities. In 2002, another study was made by the Harvard Center for Risk Analysis. In their study, they found that drivers using cell phones are responsible for about 6 percent of U.S auto accidents each year, killing an estimated 2,600 people and injuring 330,000 others (Pickler, 2002). As you can see, within two years of research, the percentile has grown and something needs to be done. The cell phone industry has very little defense against such accusations, with the exception...

...Kassandra Vera Part 2: Texting While Driving Professor: Jolanta Kiurshanoska English 215 Nova University 18th August 2013 PART 2: TEXTING WHILE DRIVING Texting while driving didn’t become a global issue overnight, but quickly, one fatality after the next, led to alarming statistics that cannot continue to go ignored, and while some families are asking for justice, that could never replace the loved ones they’ve lost. Others are demanding a solution to the growing epidemic. In the United States alone, “over 6,000 deaths and half a million injuries are caused by distracted drivers each year.” (Edgar Snyder and Associates, 2013). Cellphone usage has been identified as the number one distraction. Is there a real solution to this issue? The answer is yes, but it will require continued efforts from manufacturers, law enforcements, along with the drivers themselves before this issue can be solved, diminishing the economical, social, and political disturbances it has stirred up in the past decade. Our phones have become smarter, thanks to innovators like Steve Jobs and his contributions to technological advancements during his leadership with Apple, while he was still alive. Not only did he predict the needs of individuals before they knew the need existed, but as he designed each Apple iPhone he brought consumers one step closer to safety. These electronic devices are so intelligent and sensitive, that the voice of a human can be used to perform commands that are directed...

...Introduction . what are the potential health issues associated with cellular telephone use? Whether it’s the increased use of cell phones by children, or the overall increase in cell phone use by adults, human exposure to electromagnetic radiation is happening in ways never dreamed of before. Very young children are using them, teenagers live on them—and some even sleep with them on their pillows, as cell phones are often used as alarm clocks. What do these exposures consist of and what do they mean for human health? Whether cell phone use affects the human nervous system and reproduction, causes DNA damage and behavioral changes, or creates addictive behavior, cell phones are now ubiquitous in our lives. Cell phone technology has changed quickly over time and continues to develop, which means that human exposures also change over time. This report explores what we know about cell phone use, exposures, and human health. Impact of mobile phone technology in environment: The Cell Phone Problem Electromagnetic Radiation _ All cell phones emit a type of radiation called an electromagnetic field (EMF), composed of waves of electric and magnetic energy moving together through space. Different types of electromagnetic energy are categorized by their wavelengths and frequencies and comprise the electromagnetic “spectrum” (see next page). _ Different radiation frequencies are used by different...

...Cellular Technology and Society Today , Political & Economic ., Health, Psychological & Sociological , Cellular Technology & History , Moral & Sociological DeVry University LAS432 Society, Ethics, and Technology Abstract The following paper will discuss the psychological and sociological impact of cellular technology. Cellular technology has seen rapid growth in technology and in personal use. Texting has now become the dominant means of communication and actual conversation skills are diminishing. Exposure to electromagnetic radiation emitted from cellular devices has become a concern and is being studied from many various angles to determine actual health risks from cell phone use. Whether it is for personal or business use, the cell phone has become a permanent fixture in our lives, could have potential health risks, and can become an addiction if necessary steps are not taken to control use and dependency. Cellular Technology and Society Today At any store they are visible. They have their hand plastered to their ear or they are seemingly talking to no one. These are the cellphone users. Hayley Tsukayama, a writer for the Washington post asserts that according to the Pew Internet and Life Project only seventeen percent of Americans still have a land line and ninety percent own a cellphone. (Tsukayama, 2014) The largest contributor to this trend is convenience. Most cellular devices are small and easily portable, allowing the user to move around freely...

...------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- Benefits of having a luxury car ------------------------------------------------- When does a simple car become a luxury car? Is it price, quality, aesthetic value or all of the above? Depending on the brand nearly every manufacturer offers some mix of "luxury" appointments. But there is a distinct difference between using the word "luxury" in a car's advertising, as opposed to leveraging its practical benefits. Therefore, in an attempt to begin to illustrate true value rather simply accepting advertising slang we have broken out a couple of the more important aesthetic and practical advantages to help with one's decision-making. ------------------------------------------------- Aesthetic Value - Clearly there is significant divergence between the look of a "box on wheels" and a premier luxury vehicle. Whether categorized as an SUV, Mini-Van, Truck, Sedan or Sports Car, vehicles identified as true luxury models tend to the allow owners to immediately leverage visual prestige, as if the car is subliminally saying aloud, "I am someone of note"; because design shapes and lines are smoother, paint is more vibrant, and engine sounds are more distinct. To prove the point, park a Toyota Corolla next to a Mercedes AMG sedan and you'll get the idea quickly. ------------------------------------------------- Quality Of Design - Premier luxury cars are designed to meet stringent...

When an inventor in Finland opens his garage door, he faces three feet o f snow. — J.O. Nieminen, CEO of Nokia Mobira, 1984 Until the 1990s, Finland was considered a remote and sleepy country in the northeastern corner of Europe, lying in the shadow of its large neighbor Russia. Finland had been part of Sweden for six centuries until 1809, when it was ceded to Russia. The Bolshevik revolution in 1917 and the collapse of the Romanov dynasty led Finland to unilaterally declare independence on December 6,1917 (still the national day). After difficult years during World War П, Finland remained somewhat isolated, and its economy remained highly dependent on the Soviet Union. Following the model of its Nordic neighbors in the post-war years, Finland was characterized by heavy investments in social welfare and public infrastructure. There was a history of reliance on government leadership in many"private sector companies. The government had large holdings in many top Finnish companies (see Exhibit 1), and through its active involvement in major mergers and acquisitions transactions, influenced the ownership structures of key industries./ Finland's prosperity level caught up to the...

...Throughout the world wireless media is used everywhere. Wireless media can be defined as the transmission of waves take place in the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum. The carrier frequency of the data is expressed in cycles per second called hertz(Hz). Low frequency signals can travel for long distances through many obstacles but can not carry a high bandwidth of date while high frequency signals can travel for shorter distances through few obstacles and carry a narrow bandwidth. Also the noise effect on the signal is inversely proportional to the power of the radio transmitter. There are three broad categories of wireless media they include radio, microwave, and infared. Everybody everywhere in the world uses wireless media it may be in another or fashion but everyone uses it. Many cars are equipped with GPS systems. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a U.S. space-based radio-navigation system that provides reliable positioning, navigation, and timing services to civilian users on a continuous worldwide basis -- freely available to all. For anyone with a GPS receiver, the system will provide location and time. GPS provides accurate location and time information for an unlimited number of people in all weather, day and night, anywhere in the world. The GPS is made up of three parts: satellites orbiting the Earth; control and monitoring stations on Earth; and the GPS receivers owned by users. GPS satellites broadcast signals from space that are picked up and identified by GPS...

Ethical concerns arise when a person carrying a receiver has their location transmitted to second party. This type of tracking has a wide variety of applications including tracking dementia sufferers, tracking parolees and law enforcement. A literature review found that the ethics of GPS tracking has not been thoroughly assessed. This paper investigates the ethical issues arising from the real time tracking of people using GPS-based location services. Usability...
