The Bandanna
1.) I feel I would have replied in the same way. They put the no bandanna rule in effect in a way to help avoid or reduce gang related activity or conflict, and the primary reason of keeping their customers safe. With the rule in effect, they have an exception for people with certain conditions that still allows them to wear bandanna’s by wearing the bracelet. I understand she may have felt hurt or targeted, but the mall has a rule and they found a way for people with medial condition to be able to wear the bandanna. She certainly made it very clear in her letter she has cancer, to me almost to the point she would like people to feel sorry for her, however, it is a terrible tragedy for nay one to get cancer, it does not exempt anyone from rules.
2.) I do not feel the hard and fast caused public relations issues. I feel there are some people that will complain about them and some people that will support it. I am sure when the rule first came into effect it caused some publicity, but then something else found people’s attention and now people have adapted to the rule.
3.) Yes, the mall should send a copy to the newspaper. In a sense the girl made it kind of sound like she was attacked, but she was not and again an exception was put into place for her to keep her bandanna on. Both letters will cause negative and positive reactions from people, as everyone has an opinion. Bottom line the mall has a responsibility to keep its customers safe and if this helps, then it is
