Eric Legrand, author and main character of “Believe: My Faith and the Tackle That Changed My Life” moves readers with his inspirational thoughts in this book. He goes through each of the events in his life while giving a positive insight about it. In his autobiography, Eric Legrand speaks about how he stayed strong after enduring a severe life threatening football injury by the support he had from family and friends while other people with similar problems and disabilities did not have the support he did. His experience really encourages the readers to change their outlook on life and how they shouldn’t take things for granted. This is truly an inspirational story for people all around the world.

In his freshman year of high school he was offered a football scholarship to Rutgers University. To get a scholarship at such a young age was a huge accomplishment. Eric started envision his future playing in the NFL, but all his dreams were destroyed in a split second during a college game on October 16, 2010 at New Meadowlands Stadium. His dreams were crushed during an attempted tackle towards Malcolm Brown’s mid-section, but instead rammed his head into the back of the Malcolm's left shoulder. After the injury he had his neck aligned back into place by surgery. Doctors had told his mom that he had a zero to five percent chance of regaining neurological function and that he would never be able to breathe on his own and that he would always need a ventilator.
