“There will come soft rains” is a poem that elaborates about a war between humankind and human nature. In the beginning, it is clear that no one lives in the house, but later in the rising action, a dog is used to symbolize death. Even after the humans are gone, the robots take care of the house, even though everything that they do is useless. The robots also seem to be taking the humans’ place, which mother nature does not seem to like. In the end, mother nature ends up winning because the house gets burned down along with the robots, all that’s left is a wall. While reading “There will come soft rains” the only reason that I was able to understand it was because Rey Bradbury used both imagery and alliteration.
