The purpose of this paper is to analyze and critique the rhetorical dimensions of the documentary film Fed Up, with an emphasis on the film’s logical argument. The method by which such evaluation will be conducted is with research that investigates the the accuracy of logical claim and analysis of how the film uses pathos, ethos and logos. The research resulted that Fed uses obese children documentaries to appeal to an audience’s emotions as well as other experts to build the authority of the documenter. In conclusion, the documentary is correct that the fast food industry is responsible for the obesity epidemic.

Obesity has become a trending topic and issue in the past decade and has developed into a serious problem facing America.

This speech was delivered to, and hosted by, the Center for American Progress (CAP). The president uses striking language to appeal to the emotion and logic of the audience. Obama executes his appeals in a variety of ways with the express purpose of painting the issue of growing inequality and decreased upward mobility as the “defining challenge of our time.” President Obama describes these issues as what drives everything he does as POTUS. Obama’s speech was quite intellectual and technical, peppered in detail with the numbers and statistics of current social and economic inequalities, appealing to logos. While he builds his argument based on these substantial facts, the overall feeling of his language is that of compassion. We suggest that social movements can fuel solutions to three challenges in creating new market segments: entrepreneurial production, the creation of collective producer identities, and the establishment of regular exchange between producers and consumers. We use qualitative data on the grassroots coalition movement that has spurred a market for grass-fed meat and dairy products in the United States since the early 1990s. Our analysis shows that the movement’s participants mobilized broad cultural codes and that these codes motivated producers to enter and persist in a nascent market, shaped their choices about production and exchange technologies, enabled a collective identity, and formed the basis of the products’ exchange value.• The creation of new markets is an important engine of economic and cultural change. This paper will examine two error patterns committed by Japanese studying English as a second language: the genitive markers of/’s indicating possession; and the English article system a/an/the. The former is concerned with the misuse of the English preposition of, which I consider to originate in the L1. The analysis shown below manifests that it is difficult for Japanese students to distinguish between of and ’s: a comparison of this will ensue. The latter originates in the misuse/overgeneralisation of learning strategies: the usage of articles: a/an/the. The Japanese language lacks an article system, making this, “one of the greatest problems for Japanese learners [and this] is vividly revealed in the high frequency of mistakes,...” (Kimizuka 1968:78). ...Lola Bunny Dr. Michael English 2301.01 10 December 2002 Negotiating Death Now and Later: Humanism, Eternity, and Milton's "Two-Handed Engine" Lines 108-131 of "Lycidas" have been disputed for over three centuries, and the debate over the meaning of Milton's "two-handed engine" is still far from over. 1 I join here the seemingly illimitable number of readers who propose a solution to lines 130-131, and I argue that we need go no further than the poem itself to discover that Milton has in mind the Pilot's keys. My aim will be, first, to foreground the combined Christian and humanistic feature which informs the unity of the work. Then I propose a clear identification of the speaker in the passage. A number of unsatisfactory interpretations begin with a misunderstanding of who the "dread voice" really is, and smoking him out will, I hope, enable us to derive from Milton's other poetry and prose the most likely meaning he would have attached, within the context of the poem, to a "two-handed engine." The Pilot of the Gallilean Lake passage is, after all, a series of lines whose context begs to be situated; it deliberately invites a close reading of its structure. Even so, we shall see that the passage does not at all cloak itself in mystery. The reason for the sudden appearance of the disruptive "dread voice," coming as it does about three-fourths of the way into a pastoral elegy, has occupied critics who struggle to account for the unity of the poem.
