...A Song Tells a Story: Song Lyrics Assignment The song I choose is called “Love the Way You Lie” by Eminem featuring Rhianna. I choose this song because I enjoy listening to it. When the song was first released in 2010, it was one of my favourite songs to play. The song is worldly know and had won various musical awards. Both artists featured on this song are recognized world-wide, for their success and fame in the music industry. “Love the Way You Lie” is about domestic violence. Domestic violence is the abuse verbally, emotionally or physically in any type of relationship. Domestic violence is a commonly known subject and can happen to anyone, male or female. On average 30% of women who have been in a relationship has experience physical or sexual violence from their partner. The story that is carried throughout the song is of two lovers in an abusive relationship. The two lovers refuse to separate even though being in an unsafe love, hate relationship. The two, endure all types of physical and emotional abuse throughout the song, for example when Eminem says “Now you're in each other's face spewing venom in your words when you spit them” Both lovers are fighting, using all types of words to emotionally wound the other. “Love the Way You Lie” gained much of its popularity due to the underlying message about domestic violence. ...Presentation personal reflection: In week 1, when I joined this IAB120 bridging culture excited, I was very excited to being in such a group from different cultural backgrounds. Cara and Maria are from Australia. Rhianna is from from Scotland. ...KPWR 106 Radio Channel Analysis Radios have been around for more than 100 years now and it has played a big role in our modern society. Through radio, news, music and advertisements have thrived. However, as technology advanced time after time, the radio stations had many other stations to compete with. For this assignment, I chose KPWR 106 which is hip-hop station to examine and learn why this station is a successful one. I think there are two types of radio personalities: those that plan an actual show, and those that have no idea what they want to talk until the station starts. A planned show keeps the listeners tuned in and makes the listeners want to come back to it often. PWR 106 is seems unplanned but maintains the good hit playlist and engaging talks. There are several things to keep in mind, which I have learned from this assignment. The time frame was 10:30 to 11:30 in the morning on March 19th,2014. The station was called KPWR106 and it mainly played rap, hip-hop and R&B. The Format of the show kind of unique. The first 15 minutes, it played 2 music back to back and then one 30 second commercial and repeated once more. However after 15 minute mark, it had about 9 commercials non-stop 15 to 30 second playing time each.
