Over the past decade, the web has been embraced by millions of businesses as an economical network to communicate and exchange information with prospective clients. Along with businesses, this is also very popular among almost every individual using the internet for various purposes, be it a student, a patient, or a housewife. The web provides a mode for marketers to get to know what people visiting their sites are looking for and connecting with them in order to provide satisfactory services. The web is an exceptional sales channel for any type of organization be it schools, hospitals, businesses, etc.
Despite their numerous advantages, web applications also have many drawbacks like security concerns due to improper coding or very weak firewall protection. This gives way to hackers who gain access to databases containing sensitive data like credit card information, social security information, phone numbers, and even home addresses. A virus can be used to bring the entire online business down for minutes, hours, and days causing a huge loss. Businesses need extra security to protect critical personal information of customers in order to gain customer faith and loyalty. There are many limitations of web as well such incompatibility of web apps with native apps in many areas, limited access to smartphone hardware making simple tasks like saving photos more difficult, and same app may look different across different browsers confusing mainly the older generation, etc.
Rich Internet Application (RIA) is a web application offering pleasing experience that leads to user satisfaction and increases productivity. Using the broad reach of the internet, RIAs can be deployed across different browsers and devices. Typically, An RIA runs inside a web browser and thus does not require the hassle of installing software thus making it user friendly. It offers organization with cost-effective way to provide modern applications with real business benefits; Offer users a more engaging experience; and Increase customer loyalty and generate higher profits.
In this global business environment where customers’ demands are rising with an equally increasing difficulty to obtain brand loyalty, deep rooted customer engagement is crucial for an organization’s success and survival. RIAs help businesses interact with customers allowing them to engage. RIAs also allows businesses to integrate rich media which has its own benefit. RIAs not only enable better configurations, but also allow businesses to embed video and other contextual help content into application generating making it more interesting and attracting users.
Browsers with RIA web pages can be a powerful user interface for handling advanced data and applications. The RIAs would be a possible technique to view and manipulate the most data generated in clinical processes, which can achieve the primary functions of their existing viewing system, PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System). Both Digital and non-Digital data can be handled by RIAs. Medical data that are difficult to present using existing viewing systems can be easily done using RIAs. Similarly, clinicians can use browser as a distinctive interface for obtaining, processing, and presenting appropriately all the clinical data located in different departments and information systems. By broadening its accessibility, this software platform has the potential to transform telemedicine, clinical practice, medical education and information distribution particularly in rural areas, and to make patient-centric medical computing a reality. RIAs available on browsers permits communication between handheld devices and a hospital information systems for media streaming possible.
Similarly, in the field of financial services be it for school, business, or accounting services, RIAs provide the ability to access information. Customer satisfaction and loyalty is what every organization works towards. So, facilitating customers and providing services whenever they want is what keeps an organization afloat. With RIAs, customers can access their accounts and acquire every detail information they want is what keeps them satisfied. For example, if I were to access my school account, I will not be able to access my previous tuition statements let alone in detail, but RIAs can make detail viewing of the account possible. This is just a small example of the broader possibilities. Accounting information in details can be accessed as well as a patient can access his/her entire health history within minutes without going through the hassle of having to stay on hold for hours just to find out that you need to visit the hospital/facility in order to get the personal information.
RIAs can be used in many other fields. These are software that facilitates usage without using storage space. So, one can easily use RIAs on handheld devices without having to worry about the storage space getting full. It can be useful in the field of marketing as well. The more people see the more they get influenced to buy. So, this can be used as a useful tool in sales. Thus, RIA has many usage.

...Part A 1. Recommendations if FFA should have a network with a file server. There are pros and cons for this situation. For pros it will be easier for the users to multitask, instead of needing to switching computers to print, scan or to search on the internet. Also for instance if a file is needed to be printed and it’s on one computers that is only connected to the scanner or the internet, it would take some time to print because the user would have to put it in a storage disc then transfer over to the computer connected to the internet, this would waste a lot of time. The cons about having a network with a file server is that if one of the computers have a virus, there is a high chance where the virus is able to spread to the other computers . This could cause the company to lose important files. Also if this was a small company it is not really necessary to have a file server. 2. Recommendation if FFA should use Electronic Spreadsheet. Using an Electronic Spreadsheet would be most productive for the MRs because it would cause fewer mistakes for the MRs taking down what the shoppers has bought. Also it would be easier for the MRs to add up a total instead of using a pen a paper it would a lot of time and a risk of mistakes happening. 3. Web Systems and Technologies

...Web Accessibility Initiative's Accessible Rich Internet Applications: Bridging Technology Shelia S Bradley IT3210 Web Systems and Technologies Dr. Azad Ali 26 January 2014 Web Accessibility Initiative’s Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA) is a technical guide published by the World Wide Web that is typically supposed to make web content and web applications more accessible by people with disabilities. It acts as a bridge between the web content and applications and technology giving the two the availability to exchange messages easily. The purpose that ARIA was created was so that developers can use the latest web technologies to make sure that people with disabilities are able to use the assistive technology products to access the content on their web pages. New technology allows the use of dynamic content that allows web pages to constantly update and refresh, such as weather updates for the local news websites, bank account balances for online banking, stock market data, and sports scores for sports sites like ESPN. There are many features of WAI-ARIA that gives more control to the web page developers by allowing them to specify different features on the document such as ‘banner’, ‘menu’, ‘navigation’, and ‘search’. These tags give the user the ability to determine what information the tags may provide without having to guess and eliminating the need to have to search the entire page until they find the information needed. Google's Motivation to Bid Into the Wireless Marketplace Through the Use of the 700mhz Spectrum Auction.

...prospect of entering into the wireless market offers Google many potential growth and development practices as well as competencies. There are also many risks associated with this strategy, including the cost of building and maintaining a billion dollar network. One particular goal that may have been in mind with this decision is the growth of Google’s vast wireless software portfolio that includes Gmail, Maps, Docs, Calendar Sync and various other applications that can be downloaded to many phones. There may have been other reasons Google chose to take interest into the wireless market such as the ownership of Youtube and its developments in a new website and java beta application that allows people to view tens of millions of videos via cell phone. How does Google’s support for open access fit into Google’s plans? Google supporting Open Access really makes this a popular decision. Many people are rooting for Google to bid on the 700MHz spectrum for reasons that it will allow for competitive pricing of many cellular internet features. If Google is successful, broadcast companies will have much more flexibility in creating business models that use spectrum that used to belong to them in the first place. Open access provides that following flexibility: • Open your office documents – View your documents, spreadsheets, PDF files and more. • View your...

Cisco

...Cisco Virtualization Experience Infrastructure (VXI) Reference Architecture October 5, 2010 What You Will Learn Enterprise IT departments are pressured to control costs, improve manageability, enhance security, and speed-up the deployment of new capabilities while supporting a consistent user experience across diverse endpoints. Desktop virtualization (DV) has become a popular solution for addressing these needs. With hosted DV, the end-user’s desktop experience (operating system, applications, and associated data) is abstracted from the physical endpoint and centralized. The user’s desktop image is hosted as a virtual machine on a data center server. Users can access hosted virtual desktops from anywhere through DV appliances, smart phones, tablet computers, laptop and desktop computers, and other clients. Organizations deploying DV face many challenges, as the DV technologies potentially affect the entire IT infrastructure. To address these challenges, Cisco has developed Cisco® Virtualization Experience Infrastructure (VXI), a comprehensive architecture for desktop virtualization. Cisco VXI, which uses three existing Cisco architectures, includes designs for virtualized data centers, virtualization-aware borderless networks, and virtualized workspaces, and the critical services needed to support these architectures. Cisco VXI reduces the total cost of ownership (TCO), streamlines operations, simplifies management, and positions organizations for growth. This document describes...

Web 2.0: the New Standard

...Web 2.0: The New Standard Allen Brooks Southern New Hampshire University IT 210 Web 2.0 is quickly becoming the new standard for internet-based content. This new implementation proves a slippery term to define, but its conceptual themes can be seen throughout the most content-rich web pages on the Internet. As an improvement upon the now surpassed web 1.0, web 2.0 provides users with an Internet “experience” rather than presenting them with a static webpage by integrating constant information updates, collective intelligence, and exploiting the immense benefits of networking effects (2007, O’Reilly). An example of the differences between webs 2.0 and 1.0 can be gleaned from a comparison of the differing approaches to the “software as a service” models of the now struggling to survive Netscape against the booming Google. In 2001, the so-called “dot com bubble” burst and destroyed a conglomerate of business in the process. While many technologists submitted that this was an indication that the Internet itself was “overhyped”, in hindsight, this collapse marked a shift in the cyber landscape (O’Reilly). Tim O’Reilly remarks that, “shakeouts typically mark the point at which an ascendant technology is ready to take [the prevailing technology’s] place at center stage” (O’Reilly). This conclusion yields some insight to the reason for the collapse: users had become bored with stagnant web content that simply presented static information in the form of sporadically updated...

...RSS is the acronym for Rich Site Summary. It is used to notify subscribers about updates on a web page’s content, without having to view the actual web page. They are used by news sites, blogs, and social media as a way of keeping users constantly updated. RSS, or feeds, are significant to the Web 2.0 as they allow users to be notified as soon as content is updated. Moreover these feeds can be accessed via a mobile phone, which is the preferred means of accessing the Web nowadays. Web 1.0 used static pages that could only be viewed by users. The Web 2.0 has allowed more interactivity within web pages. Now users can easily and freely edit information on a website, for example wikis (Tinani, 2011). The Web 2.0 has also given users the ability to contribute to the web. Services and applications have been introduced which allow a large number of users to create and distribute User Created Content (UCC) (Wikis and Social Networking, 2007) This ability has also given rise to social networking: displaying personal content for the world to see and to interact with people in a way never imagined before (O’Reilly, 2005)...
