Within the book , I tend to see a lot of romanticism. Mary Murfee is explaining over and over, with much detail, what the mountainside and coves looks like where the novel takes place. The explaining of the area starts very quickly in the book and tends to draw you in almost as if you are present at the location. One of the first explanations you read is How can this setting not draw you into it? I have never driven through the Great Smokey Mountains, but while reading thus far can imagine it.
