-Rifles For Watie- The Civil War had a total of more than 650,000 deaths. Many of these deaths were made through tough decision making. Each decision could affect the future of the individuals in the war. Each army man benefited their sides of the fight. Each individual worked countless hours for their side. That is why decision making is so crucial in war. In a book called Rifles For Watie, the main character named Jefferson Davis Bussey, made the decision of volunteering for the army. He became part of the Kansas Volunteers. On his way to the army, two other men joined him to go serve in the army. His decision was the first main decision that would affect his life and experiences throughout the book. For the duration of the book, he makes many compromises and agreements that will change army life and even his future. Some decisions were extremely tough to choose. He could not seem to figure out if his decisions had a wrong answer. That is why some decisions are difficult to make because they are neither wrong nor right.

After training in Fort Leavenworth, they began to march towards the enemy. The marched for many days. He was exhausted and close to starvation. They had been marching for many miles and was sick and tired of it. He wanted to go to war. He went to battle, and after much assault and bloodshed, he really saw how the war was. Throughout the battles he sees his friends and comrades die in war. Jeff learns that the war was all about "honor and glory". Each decision he makes could be his last.
