...of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, many readers may have controversial views towards many different characters. While viewers may dislike the priest, Friar Lawrence in Romeo and Juliet, the play would not have been possible without his role. Friar Lawrence is notorious for his reckless and harmful decisions, but it is his actions that ultimately move the play along and result in Romeo’s and Juliet’s death. Without Friar Lawrence’s actions in the play, such as marrying Romeo and Juliet, telling Juliet what to do, and leaving Juliet alone after Romeo dies, there would have been very little conflict in the plot, which would have resulted in a very different conclusion. The first time Friar Lawrence’s importance to the play is shown is when he agrees to marry Romeo and Juliet. He says that he will be “thy assistant” (II, iii, 97) to Romeo and marry him and Juliet, along with keeping it a secret from their parents in an attempt to “turn your households’ rancor to pure love” (II, iii, 99). Without Friar Lawrence, Romeo and Juliet...

...Who is the most to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet? (do not plagiarize please!!!!!!!!! it is illegal to do so thank you) Essay: For hundreds of years people have argued over the reason for the tragic and fatal deaths of the young lovers, ‘Romeo and Juliet’. Audiences are greatly impacted by the fatality of Romeo and Juliet and it makes us consider who was most to blame for this tragic event. Shakespeare’s play presents a variety of characters, which some may have been responsible for this sudden event to transpire. The characters that contribute most dramatically to the deaths are Friar Lawrence, Tybalt and Juliet’s father Lord Capulet. It is clear that the irresponsibility and foolishness from Friar Lawrence was partially to blame for the lover’s tragic death. Although he clearly cares and is empathetic towards the lovers, many of his decisions lead to their fatalities. Friar Lawrence marries Romeo and Juliet in secret, hoping that he would bring peace to the two feuding families, "For this alliance may so happy prove to turn your households' rancour to pure love." As well as this, Friar Lawrence devises a dangerous and risky plan to have Juliet fake her death by drinking a poisonous vile, so she can be with lover Romeo. What he does not take into account though is how hastily Romeo might respond to the news of Juliet’s death. With Romeo not receiving the plan due to the delayed delivery, he is distraught and depressed that his lover has “died”, therefore killing...

...Both love and hate emotions has been contributed throughout the play of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet; however, it is clearly shown that throughout the tragedy, it’s emphasised more on hate than love. The play portrays that not a single scene transpires in the play without a level of antagonism performing in the backdrop, constantly posing a caution on the characters and one that is present in the interactions of the characters. But that doesn’t mean love doesn’t play a big role in the novel. Either way, It is the hatred between the two families that makes them have to hide their love it's the hatred that makes Friar Laurence have to devise his crazy plan that leads up to Romeo and Juliet killed. Also, death not only get caught with...

...At liftoff, Matt Eversmann said a Hail Mary. He was curled into a seat between two helicopter crew chiefs, the knees of his long legs up to his shoulders. Before him, jammed on both sides of the Black Hawk helicopter, was his "chalk," twelve young men in flak vests over tan desert camouflage fatigues. He knew their faces so well they were like brothers. The older guys on this crew, like Eversmann, a staff sergeant with five years in at age twenty-six, had lived and trained together for years. Some had come up together through basic training, jump school, and Ranger school. They had traveled the world, to Korea, Thailand, Central America... they knew each other better than most brothers did. They'd been drunk together, gotten into fights, slept on forest floors, jumped out of airplanes, climbed mountains, shot down foaming rivers with their hearts in their throats, baked and frozen and starved together, passed countless bored hours, teased one another endlessly about girlfriends or lack of same, driven in the middle of the night from Fort Benning to retrieve each other from some diner or strip club on Victory Drive after getting drunk and falling asleep or pissing off some barkeep. Through all those things, they had been training for a moment like this. It was the first time the lanky sergeant had been put in charge, and he was nervous about it. Pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death, Amen. It was midafternoon, October 3, 1993. Eversmann's Chalk Four...

...to do it, then it becomes torture. In creating a game, designers take a step back and think from the player’s viewpoint: What’s this game about? How do I play? How do I win? Why do I want to play? What things do I need to do? MEANINGFUL DECISIONS Distilled down to its essence, game design is about creating opportunities for players to make meaningful decisions that affect the outcome of the game. Consider a game like a boxing match. So many decisions lead up to the ultimate victory. How long will I train? Will I block or will I swing? What is my opponent going to do? Where is his weakness? Jab left or right? Even those few, brief questions don’t come close to the myriad decisions a fighter must make as he progresses through a match. Games invite players into similar mental spaces. Games like Tetris and Chess keep our minds busy by forcing us to consider which one of several possible moves we want to take next. In taking these paths, we know that we may be prolonging or completely screwing up our entire game. The Sims games and those in Sid Meier’s Civilization series force dozens of decisions upon the player every minute. Few of these decisions are as direct as “Do you want to go east or west?” but each little decision affects the gameplay overall. Agribusiness (see Figure 1.1) presents the player with numerous choices. Where will the player place the next crop tile? If it’s a cheap crop, does he want to use his valuable...
