Solved the Problem of the Melting Wheels- Ailen Lucinario

Part 1: Solving the Roasted Mouse-Mr. Tuttle discovery tires/tracks melting
My previous course of action was K.T. Situational Appraisal. It was determined that we have five H ratings, researching the material to be used, stress test the material will be expensive, and building the first prototype carries a H rating on all three categories, Research, Implementation and funding. Our best material seems to be the spun aluminum and zinc coat. Our researchers found that from past lunar missions, made by the Lunar Rover, a material made spun from aluminum and zinc coated woven steel strands. Next, each hub will have a motor of its own, ran by an electric drive, with the wheels being completely independent from each other for all terrains. Replacing the wheels, we will have a clip release system. This scheme will make it easy for the operator, when wearing full gear and gloves, a simple clasp and hook which doesn’t require any tools. (Exupery, 2010)

Part 2: Implementation – Gantt Chart

We would like to get the final product developed within one year. The research for material and the design of the quick release clip to secure the wheels and/or tracks will probably take up majority of the time. Testing will also takes some time because we will need to take steps back in the research phase if the material and release clip comes up with some issues.
Part 3: Checklist Questions

Have you argued both sides-the positive and the negative?
If the development of the Mighty Mouse and the melting tires is not resolved, we must argue two points.
First if we do not develop the tires, NASA and other big companies may not buy our product. The argument is that they may not buy as many of our robots as we would like, but on the flip side, other organizations such as police forces around the globe may not need the tires to be heat resistant. The smaller organizations may also purchase a lot more of our products. The solution may be to offer two types of models, the robot without the heat resistant wheels, and the other material that doesn’t offer wheels and tracks that are as resilient. However the model without heavy duty tires, we can sell at a lower price, and the demand for them could be much more, than a robot that can move on the moon.

Has the solution accomplished all it could?
Yes, it has accomplished it all could but there’s always room for improvement. After Mr. Tuttle’s team discovery of the slippery tires. The team duplicated a heated surface, the room’s floor is made of a smooth metallic surface so when the heaters are radiating, it would have a high temperature floor for the tracks to ride on. After 5 minutes, the tracks became heated and started to slip off the wheels stopping robot’s mobility. (Exupery, 2010)
It runs all kinds of all possible testing to stop the problem from happening again.

Part 4: Patience

I have had several meetings with or marketing group, and they are in agreement, that we should build models, one with resilient tires and tracks and the other model without. Together we looked up the potential buyers of the products for the non-heat resistant model, the list includes:
Police Forces around the world, Aircraft manufacturers, SWAT, IBM etc, which outweighs any company planning to place a robot on the moon or any other Planetary scenarios., and the list goes on and on. We also held a survey, and the survey showed the same result. We polled at least 100 companies, which took 3 months to complete, including the private users and the results were astonishing. The need for non-heat resistant tires definitely is much more massive than with.

Part 5: Ethical Considerations

Working on this product, I’ve realize that this application can be used for a lot of different things. Not only can the bots be used to help the police force, the military or big corporations, they can be used to help the elderly, handicapped or simply around the house. There are many add on components. Although I feel like we created Mighty Mouse as surveillance and an assault robot, we work to create a model to help do everyday tasks to those that are not able to do the things we do on a daily basis.
