As the leader in industry, Union states were better armed with resources and transportation that would be leverage over Confederate states. Though lesser in resources, the South had a surplus of tenacious emotions against the Unions advances and strong tactical battle leaders like Robert E. Lee. The Civil War occurred from 1861 at Fort Sumpter April 14th after the Confederate states secede to 1865 at the town of Appomattox Court House, Virginia, April 9th when Robert Lee’s men were trapped and without resources or backup. To clean up after the war a Reconstruction Era began to mend North and South relations and put an end to slavery. As a result the Union is restored which in turn helped Southern economic rebuilding. Also, rights and services for African Americans and public school systems for everyone in the South. America has become the country it is now by the means of struggles and accomplishments. This was a difficult time for the North and South, not only were they fighting a Civil War, they were adjusting to new inventions. They have gone from horse-drawn carriages to railroads, medical practices that had barely changed in a hundred years; were now treating wounds caused by new inventions. Nevertheless, there is still little guidance as to how companies can implement CSR activity in order to maximize returns to CSR investment. Theorists have identified many company favoring outcomes of CSR, yet there is a dearth of research on the psychological mechanisms that drive stakeholder responses to CSR activity. Borrowing from the literatures on means-end chains and relationship marketing, we propose a conceptual model that explains how CSR provides individual stakeholders with numerous benefits (functional, psychosocial, and values) and how the type and extent to which a stakeholder derives these benefits from CSR initiatives influences the quality of the relationship between the stakeholder and the company.
