“Where Death and Glory Meet: Colonel Robert Gould Shaw and the 54th Massachusetts Infantry” by Russell Duncan was the third and final informational text for my research on the historical 54th Massachusetts regiment. This text being another biography of Robert Gould Shaw, the author paints the image of a spirited leader that garnered unexpected national attention because of his story's’ context. He is one of the first White-American military commanders leading a platoon of Black-Americans. Shaw is a historical figure because he displayed what was socially wrong back then, racial equality.
