A Fortune 500 company that has a great background and that could further her career in finance. She accepts the offer to the Fortune 500 and continues to advance throughout the company until her career advancements takes a halt after she gets married and has a child. DIAGNOSIS The problem here is not her ability to work hard and excel within the company, it was the lack of knowledge she obtained about family life before working with the company and it’s the lack of help the company gives for families. The reason she is not advancing with the company is because the company seems to frown upon a family life. It is obvious that this Fortune 500 Company does not offer a family benefit plan or that the department in which Robin works for does not do well with those that has a family life. Each job is as equally important, but it’s how the company helps the situations in order to deal with stress in the workplace. Once hired, it’s up to both sides of the parties to work together to make...

...One dramatic element that helped my understanding of the play was the characterization that was given. To really understand why the conflict and why they reacted to certain scenes. The audience learns the basic characteristics of the each character very early in the play, which allows a lot of time for character development. The audience gets sense of the type character Douglas, played by Schuyler Scott Mastain, from the very first time we heard him talk. He is very self-involved and self-serving person. We can gather that from the initial conversation in which he doesn’t really converse with any other character or invite them into the conversation. Martin, play by Myles Bullock, interrupts Douglas, unlike the two female characters Martin is not enthralled by the story. The character of Martin is does not appreciate the phony life of the privileged. This along with his reaction to how the price of the apartment the seminar takes place in shows us that he is a struggling writer. Izzy,...

...saturated late-1980s New York City, manifesting in episodes such as the Howard Beach and Central Park Jogger incidents and the Tawana Brawley case. Do the Right Thing invokes Brawley via a graffito that proclaims, “Tawana told the truth!” rioters chant the words “Howard Beach” during the climax. The understanding that the film captured the city’s polarized atmosphere was immediate. One stimulating point I noticed is when we see Mookie (Spike Lee) counting his money, this is actually one of the happiest times of him that we see. This comes up time and time again, when he is working, he insists that Sal pays him his money early, because...

...While generations of scientists have debated whether human aggression and violence is learned or innate, Brain (pp. 9, 1985) most likely summarizes the best and shortest answer to this question by stating that Human violence is too complicated to be interpreted in simple terms”. Empirical data and theories from both sides will be presented in this essay which will illustrate that while humans are genetically equipped to be violent and in some cases even have a genetic predisposition towards violence, social factors play key role in facilitating and enhancing aggressive behavior or suppressing and inhibiting it. Cesar Lombroso in the 20th century claimed that long arms, jutting chins and sloping foreheads were signs of born criminals, while Sigmund Freud (1930) later claimed that the drive to aggress is rooted deep in the psyche, independent of circumstances and as a result people have an innate need to inflict harm which must be satisfied periodically. A similar catharsis view was held by Lorenz (1963) who suggested that aggression being a natural instinct that accumulates over time especially in response to environmental stress, needs to be periodically released much like the periodic orgasm that helps diminish sex drive. In the 1960’s some scientists proposed that men who carried an XYY chromosome pattern were predisposed to become criminals (Ramirez, 1996). These were some of the early views on the innate nature of aggression and violence. Recent studies conducted on rats...

...in cases where individuals do not offer help in an emergency situation when other people are present. The probability of help has in the past been thought to be inversely proportional to the number of bystanders. In other words, the greater the number of bystanders, the less likely it is that any one of them will help. In a series of classic studies, researchers Bibb Latane and John Darley found the bystander effect. In one experiment, subjects were placed in one of three treatment conditions: alone in a room, with two other participants or with two confederates who pretended to be normal participants. As the participants sat filling out questionnaires, smoke began to fill the room. When participants were alone, 75% reported the smoke to the experimenters. In contrast, just 38% of participants in a room with two other people reported the smoke. In the final group, the two confederates in the experiment noted the smoke and then ignored it, which resulted in only 10% of the participants reporting the smoke. Another great example of the bystander effect is a study done by Robert Thornberg (2007). In his study, he observed real- life emergency situations in a classroom. In one incident he describes, a group of 5th graders are coming back from their break and putting away their jackets. One student, Chris, is lying on the floor holding his arm and is crying softly. Many of the students see Chris but walk right by him. One student, Robin, asks what happened. Chris tells Robin that...

...every word that comes from their mouths. Think of your childhood idol for a second. When you are a child you are so infatuated by your idols you want to be just like them, do what they do, eat what they eat and wear what they wear. With this kind of influence on thousands of people caution needs to be taken when deciding the brands and messages one can endorse. A case study completed by youth in India provides proof of the influence Sporting Stars can have on our youth.
