...Neighbors are part of our daily lives. They are part of the process of socialization. Socialization is the process in which we interact with other people. In our lives, we are always trying to look for a good area to live, a nice house and most important of all good neighbors. In my opinion, a good neighbor should be respectful, friendly and helpful. The first quality of good neighbors is that they should be friendly. The way to be friendly is showing their care about you, and they should welcome you to their neighborhood. Neighbors are those people we meet every day when we go in and out of our houses. A nice and sincere smile on their faces, or a simple 'hello' as a warm greeting on the way, may bring us a joyful mood for a start of a day. Nice neighbors will provide us a very comfortable living environment through their care and friendship. For example, in 2011 I moved to town house in Alexandria we had a moving truck parked in front of our house as soon as we open the door to unload the furniture an old guy and lady came in and introduce there selves and they said my name is William Macmahon and my wife is Karen and we are your new neighbors with big smile. They asked if he can help us to unload the furniture from the truck and they insisted to help. On March 14, 2012, I had attended a city commissioner meeting. It was held in Tallahassee city hall. Nearly 150 people from the general public were present. Furthermore, it was handicapped accessible. The officials include John Marks, Andrew Gillum, Nancy Miller, Mark Mustian, and Gil Ziffer. John Marks is the Mayor of the City of Tallahassee. He is Tallahassee's fifth African-American mayor to be elected, and won his proposal for a third term in the 2010 elections. He received his B.S. degree in 1969 from the Florida State University School of Business and his Juris Doctorate in 1972 from the Florida State University College of Law. Likewise, Commissioner Andrew D. Gillum, an African American is recognized statewide and nationally as an emerging leader. At the age of 23, Gillum became the youngest person ever elected to the Tallahassee City Commission in February 2003. Studies show that minority Americans experience poorer than average health outcomes from cradle to the grave. They are much more likely to die as infants, have higher rates of diseases and disabilities, and have shorter life spans. As the U.S. Congress and the Obama Administration work toward enactment of legislation to reform America’s health care system, a central focus of the debate has been the projected cost of ensuring accessible and affordable health care to every citizen. While some have struggled with the premise that health care reform can actually reduce health-related spending, the experience of racial and ethnic minorities under our current health care system is a strong indication that improving opportunities for good health – and minimizing inequities in health care access and outcomes – may well be good for the nation’s fiscal health, as well.
