Women have had the struggle of being denied equality in both politically and socially events. One ongoing political debate is regarding abortion and whether or not it should be prohibited. Many critics oppose to permit this option due to constitutional or religions belief of ending a life before it begins. Efforts to keep strict law restriction over abortion have continued, although, what many fail to realize is that abortion sometimes plays a huge factor in saving a mother's life. The unending discussion was ignited by the decision formed from the Roe v. Wade case in 1973.

However, many clinics cannot comply with the requirements from the House Bill 2, so they have no choice but to close the facilities. As more facilities close, it declines abortion levels but also the access that women have to abort. This option may appear to be a logical thing to do in hopes of preserving life, however, it might actually be the cause of more death. For example, if a mother’s pregnancy displays health risks and her best option to survive is through aborting but she has no access to any abortion clinic, it’ll lead to the mother dying along with her unborn child. Instead of relying on the government to tell women when they believe its right for them to abort, they should give the choice to the mother. Nevertheless regulations continues to deprive women of access as restrictions grow, Texas governor Greg Abbott added on the list of restrictions as he signed two new laws in August 2017. Aside from health risk pregnancies, an advantage of keeping regulations intact would mean that the abortion levels will decrease and fetus will be provided an opportunity to live. Furthermore, not undergoing an abortion procedure would save the mother from having to live in guilt for killing the fetus. In terms of having an unwanted child, a mother has the option to use adoption to give the child a better life. On the other hand, a disadvantage towards keeping regulations may start a chain reaction and cause laws to become stricter leaving women with little to no access, resulting in performing an unsafe procedures. However, if restrictions were to loosen, women wouldn’t have to put their life at risk, instead they could undergo a successful and safer abortion. Another advantage abortion contains is that it has a lower risk of death, giving birth has a higher chance of dying than aborting. In addition, women will highly benefit by gaining their personal freedom, they will have their own power to decide whether or not they wish to terminate without judgement. Women have little access to abortion clinic due to the restrictions and even if they have access to one, they have to endure harassment by protestors such as pro-life supports.
