I agree that Roger represents a sadistic side of man that lives inside of every person to some extent because there are no original thoughts, and his thoughts become actions. A popular idea that is largely controversial is, that there are no more original thoughts. Roger is not the only person ever to think about throwing rocks at someone. I’m sure most people have thought about throwing something at someone with the intentions of hurting them. Golding states, “ He sat there, crooning to himself and throwing sand at an imaginary Percival.” Goldings point is that Roger and Henry had similar pleasure in hurting another. Roger watched Henry throw sand at another kid, when later Roger throws rocks at another. His ideas, no matter how mean or
