Roles and Functions There are four main different functions that a manager will practice in a health care setting. These four functions are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. “Planning is the process of setting performance objectives and determining what actions should be taken to achieve them. Organizing is the process of arranging task, finding resources, and coordinating the activities and groups to implement groups. Leading is the process of arousing people’s enthusiasm to work hard to fulfill plans and accomplish objective. Controlling is the process of measuring the work performance, comparing results to objectives and taking corrective action as needed” (Lombardi & Schermerhorn, 2007,).

I felt that these managing functions applies to everyone when doing a job. When doing a job have to plan ahead of time so there would not be any problems. I work as a cook and I have to plan for events ahead of time so when the food is prepared correctly and I have to make sure everything in stock that we need. I also have to organize how I am going to cook the food, present the food on a plate after it is finished and how to make sure the food goes out of the kitchen in a timely manner. I also have to help lead some of my coworkers so they know how to start the process of making an event function correctly. My manager make sure that he controls all his employees so that he has time to do other things that has to be done for an event. All of these functions managers have to require a good team to help the process take place.

By working a health care manager there are many duties that take place. These duties are making various business decisions and leading strategic planning to create a vision and direction for the practice or facility going forward. They also work with the medical
