How Democratic was the Roman Republic? I believe that the Roman Republic was very democratic because in Document A, a Hellenistic historian, Polybius, stated that they are greatly democratic. To prove his point, his book, called “The Histories” pointed out that the Republic have absolute authority in running the military and fighting wars and can spend much public money as they choose.
