A Tragic Story of True Love

“For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo” (Act 5, scene 3). Almost everyone has read or heard a version of Romeo and Juliet. The story is famous for its great writing and complex storyline, but is also well known across the world for its tragic plotline. It causes readers everywhere to shed a tear for the beloved characters they have fallen in love with. But, the story is often only remembered as a tragedy for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. While that scene can be quite upsetting, countless people often forget about the other characters that meet their demise and the other unfortunate events that occur, even though they are abundant and easy to find throughout the entire book. First of all, the play has numerous characters that meet their end besides the major one everyone knows. During Act three, Mercutio, who is a close friend of Romeo’s, is murdered by Tybalt. Romeo, in a spurt of anger, assassinates Tybalt to get vengeance for his friend’s death. Then, in the last Act and scene of the play, Paris is slain by Romeo. These scenes particularly stand out, especially the one about Mercutio. In fact, the death of Mercutio is one of the first exceedingly tragic occurrences that take place in this story. Mercutio is an over the top and dramatic character, and his death was a great reflection of his personality. His last words were, “Help me into some house, Benvolio, or I shall faint. A plague o’ both your houses! They have made worms’ meat of me: I have it, and soundly too: your houses(Act 3, scene 1). He is cursing both the Montague and Capulet households, and saying they are responsible for his death. Romeo must feel extremely guilty after this, and have multiple feelings about his friend, Though not as gloomy as what occurs at the end of Romeo and Juliet,
