Ronald Maxon: The Real Battle With Crohn’s
When he was in the war and went out to go get food or supplies,Vietnamese kids would hide in their duffle bags and they would play with him and his friends in the Vietnamese War. The cause of Crohn’s Disease is somewhat unknown, but it is an abnormal response to the immune system. Some bacterias and viruses may also play a role in getting Crohn's. In Ronald’s case, it was caused by the salt water they boiled out of the ocean to use as drinking water. Ronald Maxson is 78 years old. Ronald is a retired Navy veteran of the Vietnamese War. There isn’t a way he can fix his war with Crohn’s either; he’s tried with all 42 surgeries he’s had. He just uses hope. His family is his grandson and son. His interest is going on walks and watching tv. Ronald Maxson has a story to tell about his war with Crohn's disease. The war isn’t the only thing that has caused Ronald rough times throughout the years.

In addition he has no Pancreas, Colon, Stomach, and only one foot of intestine. He has many daily pains and problems to deal with every day. He has eating and bathroom problems to deal with also. “Crohn’s also affects my life because I’m not very healthy neither then nor now because of my age and health. I could die at any moment but that is why I am as happy as possible every day.”
Everyone thinks that someone who has a problem can’t do what they want. Ronald was told he only had three more years to live that was 48 years ago. He’s had Crohn’s since 1964 and has been living through it every day and is still living stronger mentally and is proud of all the challenges he has overcome.
