I had the opportunity to interview Roselia Rocha Bonilla. Bonilla is a Mexican grandmother who lives in Watsonville, California. Mrs. was born in Michoacán, Mexico and immigrated to the United States for a brighter future. 8 brothers and sisters, has 6 children, and has been married for 40 years. I interviewed her and got to know her story, her strengths and challenges she confronts every day. She is very open and loves to carry out conversations about herself . Bonilla was very pleased to have me over and shared her story with me . She gave me authorization to use her name for this paper.
Physical Health is often defined as a state of mind
Bonilla described her health as fluctuating due to good and bad days. She feels some days are better than others depend on her energy levels for the day. Some days she can do many activities; but, others her arthritis gets in…show more content… Her father married her mother at the age of 13, her father was 33. A family that gave birth to Roselia and the rest of her brothers and sisters. She describes the challenges growing up in a primarily agricultural community. It was normal for older children ad to look after one another for guidance and directions on what to do. They were all take to the fields a soon as they could walk and talk to help with the family gardening business. Roselia described the importance of obeying men in the house. She describeed her father connected with the children more versus their mother. Her mother would say she married her father because of the “dote”. This was land or cattle offered for the hand of the woman desired. Roselia’s father died at at the age of 86 he passed leaving his wife and 8 children to create a life for each other. Roselia recounts how after marriage everyone decided to immigrate to the United States. All the family worked in the fields before so it was not a difficult job to be working in the fields in the United
