It was a sad day, because today was the day the greatest sniper in U.S. history took his final breath. Kyle worked with people who had problems after leaving the military. The day was February 2nd, 2013 (Aldrich, Ian). Kyle and Chad Littlefield took a former Marine Eddie Ray Routh to a gun range just outside of Fort Worth, Texas. Two hours after showing up to the gun range, an employee pulled up and found two bodies. Chris was face down and had been shot a total of six times by a .45-caliber pistol. While Chad had been shot by a 9mm Sig Sauer handgun, and was hit seven times by it (Spies, Mike). Routh had fled the scene and drove off in Kyle’s truck. They called the police. Routh fled the scene in a different vehicle just before investigators arrived. He was caught shortly after that. Eddie was being held at Erath County Jail where he was being charged with two counts of capital murder. His bail was set at three million dollars (Schabner, Dean).
Eddie Ray Routh was a stone cold killer who had many problems. Routh was a 25 year old marine veteran, who had served tours in both Haiti and Iraq (Klein, Christopher). He had just recently moved back in with his parents, and had been living there for several months. They were living in Lancaster, Texas. This is a small suburb just south of Dallas. Eddie has been struggling for years with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD). His symptoms suggested that he might be suffering from a more serious mental illness. He even told a even told a forensic psychologist that he believed that his coworkers were planning to eat him, because they were cannibals (Spies, Mike).
