...Jenette Varney BSHS/325 Human System and Development Barbara Kennedy Bullying Report August 10, 2015 The definition of bullying is using superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants. Bullying is also an aggressive behavior that involves unwanted, negative action. Bullying also is a pattern of behavior that is repeated over and over. For example boys punching, kicking and hitting one another. An article that I was reading called “Six Types of Bullying”, it talks about six different types of bullying. They are physical, verbal, relational aggression, cyber, sexual and prejudicial. Physical bullying is the most obvious for of bullying. Why is because kids uses physical action to gain power and the control over others. Physical bullying actions are kicking, punching, hitting, slapping, shoving and other physical attacks. Verbal bullying is words, statements and name calling to gain power over others. Verbal bullying action is calling someone dumb, stupid. When people use verbal bullying is usually targeting people with special needs. Relational Aggression is a social manipulation where teens try to hurt their peers or sabotage their social standings. A lot of people refers to this as emotional bullying. This is consider ostracize others from groups, spreading rumors. ...Objective As markets become more competitive many companies recognise the importance of retaining current customers and some have initiated a variety of activities to improve customer loyalty. Indeed, the benefits associated with customer loyalty are widely recognised within business. It is known that long-term customers are more likely to expand their relationship within the product range and so the rewards from this group are long term and cumulative. Another widely perceived benefit is that repeat or behaviourally loyal customers are also thought to act as information channels, informally linking networks of friends, relatives and other potential customers to the organisation. Much academic literature has sought to define customer loyalty and many of these reviews are discussed within this paper. However, consensus points to customer loyalty being characterised by the customer’s preference to purchase a product, service or from an organisation consistently when the need arises to purchase. The key issues of this characterisation are preference and consistency. The Discussion of Consumern Loyalty The most widely accepted definition of loyalty is by Jacoby and Kyner (1973), who describe loyalty as the biased, behavioural response, expressed over time, by some decision making unit, with respect to one or more alternative brands out of a set of such brands, and is a function of psychological processes. At a very general level, loyalty is something that consumers may exhibit...

...Corporate Bonds: Background Bonds may be registered (bondholder’s name is kept in a file) or held as bearer bonds (anyone possessing the bond may sell it or collect interest payments and face value). Each bond round of sales is called a “series.” So the company’s Series M bond issue might have occurred in 2003; and its Series N issue might have taken place in 2005. It might be that the total amount the company raised in its Series M equaled $600 million; and the amount raised (borrowed) in its Series N was $900 million. Each bond series has its own indenture (legal document stating the requirements, definitions and consequences of default). Moreover, all of the bonds issued from a series, say Series P, have bond certificates (like a stock certificate) which specifies the company (bond issuer) name, the bond face value (par value), the coupon rate (interest rate), the dates that interest will be paid, and the maturity date (when $1,000 is paid). Corporate Bonds: Interest Payments Corporate bonds might have a) fixed interest rate payments (“CoCo”, b) no interest rate payments (“NoNo”), or 3) floating-rate payments (“floaters”). The interest rate on a bond is stated as its “coupon rate.” If the company is issuing bonds that have a coupon rate of 6%; that means that the company is promising to make semiannual interest payments to the bondholder of $30 (every 6 months) until maturity—and they will pay the bondholder the face amount of $1,000 upon maturity. Most corporate...

...Acknowledgments ix Acknowledgments This book owes a great deal to the mental energy of several generations of scholars. As an undergraduate at the University of Cape Town, Francis Wilson made me aware of the importance of migrant labour and Robin Hallett inspired me, and a generation of students, to study the African past. At the School of Oriental and African Studies in London I was fortunate enough to have David Birmingham as a thesis supervisor. I hope that some of his knowledge and understanding of Lusophone Africa has found its way into this book. I owe an equal debt to Shula Marks who, over the years, has provided me with criticism and inspiration. In the United States I learnt a great deal from ]eanne Penvenne, Marcia Wright and, especially, Leroy Vail. In Switzerland I benefitted from the friendship and assistance of Laurent Monier of the IUED in Geneva, Francois Iecquier of the University of Lausanne and Mariette Ouwerhand of the dépurtement évangélrlyue (the former Swiss Mission). In South Africa, Patricia Davison of the South African Museum introduced me to material culture and made me aware of the richness of difference; the late Monica Wilson taught me the fundamentals of anthropology and Andrew Spiegel and Robert Thornton struggled to keep me abreast of changes in the discipline; Sue Newton-King and Nigel Penn brought shafts of light from the eighteenthcentury to bear on early industrialism. Charles van Onselen laid a major part of the intellectual foundations on...
