Hero. This is a very connotational word. A hero could be someone with superpowers and huge muscles like Batman, Wonder Woman, or Superman. A hero could be someone that stands up for equal rights. A hero could be someone who serves in our military. Though now, I realize that any ordinary person like you and I could be a hero. Just imagine, having the glory from saving someone’s life. Do you think you could pull it off? First, let’s explain what a hero is. A hero is someone who cares about others and is willing to help them. They are the life rafts for our ocean of danger. In our world, there are many examples of heroic people. One example of a hero is Ruby Bridges. Do you know who she is? Bridges, born in 1954, was the first black child to go to an all-white school. At age 6, she passed a specific test that allowed her to attend the William Frantz School in New Orleans. Only six kids passed, so she must be a fountain of knowledge. This helped continue the Civil Rights Action. When she arrived at the school, Federal Marshals had to protect her. People threw objects. People were yelling. Barricades were set up. Last summer, I went to visit Autumn Sprunger at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Autumn stayed at the highest story of the building, where kids that had more intense illnesses like cancer. There were many small children who had to stay away from their families. Autumn’s father told my dad and me that there was a baby who has been in the hospital since it was born. It hasn’t spent much time with their family for 7 or 8 months. To children like this baby, I think it would be a great idea if we gave them toys that are good quality. We could buy inexpensive dolls at stores like Once Upon a Child and fix them up into good shape. Then we go to the hospital and give them out to the children.
