This is a selection from “It’s Complicated: The Social Lives of Networked Teens" written by Danah Boyd, who is a principal researcher at Microsoft Research and the founder of Data and Society Research Institute. Boyd made the point that the social media will not make equality, (e.g. Having access to the internet is not enough to address existing inequities and social divisions) page 319. She wrote about her experience in a Los Angeles school, and how segregated the kids still are and giving us an idea of how the internet hasn’t made equalities between races and classes.
